Three men were executed by hanging in Iran for "forbidden acts against religion," according to AFP.

Iran Human Rights explains that the state-run Iranian news agency ISNA reported that the men were put to death for acts against sharia, "based on the articles 108 and 110 of the Iranian Islamic penal code."

Articles 108 and 110 of the penal code are part of the chapter covering the punishment of sodomy, according to Iran Human Rights.

Murder, rape, armed robbery, drug trafficking and adultery are other crimes punishable by death in Iran, according to AFP.

In 2007, Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed there were no gay people in his country.

"In Iran, we don't have homosexuals like in your country," Ahmadinejad said according to Think Progress. "We don’t have that in our country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I don’t know who’s told you we have it.”

lets use a little critical logic here, do you really think he was referring to "no homosexuals" or could he have meant -we don't have them "like in your country"?

Ask yourself: Do homosexuals exist in Iran "like they do here"?

Do they have the gay "phenomena" as we do here in this country?

Do you seriously think Ahmadinejad does not read his news reports and is not aware that homosexual acts do take place?

It seems wholly possible he was referring more to the gay-movement.

That you disagree with a countries laws concerning these things, I get.... what I don't get is the obvious way some misrepresent what the guy was probably saying.

Lets read again his words.

"In Iran, we don't have homosexuals like in your country," Ahmadinejad said according to Think Progress. "We don’t have that in our country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I don’t know who’s told you we have it.”

There are many countries that could make this same statement.

In the UK, homosexuality was a criminal offence (offense) until 1967 (Sexual Offences Act 27th July)

I joined the Police Force a few weeks after it (the offence) was abolished and the instructors were lamenting that they had to take the offence out of the training manual.

We had enough on with coal miners 'rolling their own' which did not refer to making your own cigarettes - and treating their wives in the manner of cabin boys aboard ship.

Our local public toilets were most popular with the dirty raincoat brigade and after decriminalisation, they were turned into a used car sales office.

I could never figure out why many homosexuals had jam-jar bottom spectacles and I still don't know

Anyway, I think the USA should offer asylum to all Iranian homosexuals and pay for their flight here. In fact it would be nice to do that for homosexuals all over the world - that would show these regimes that we are simply better people than they.

I think so god made man and woman not man and man or woman on woman but everyone has a right to own opioin. I may sound bias etc and what not just how I believe

So you are advocating exterminating homosexuals? Yes, you have your right to your opinion, but to suggest killing people because your religion says so is sickening.

Actually it was all a misunderstanding - armoredinnerjacket said that he understood homosexuals to be 'bloody well hung' - he was incorrectly overheard by the revolutionary guards who were combing each other's hair in the courtyard - and then they went out and started hanging homosexuals
