What have you done so far? Have you contacted anyone? Do you know why it is taking 9 months so far? Is your congressman, senator involved?

All these long waits really have me worried.

We filed the I-130 in Dec; mid-May our case got transferred to the local office (Chicago) for "interviewing and testing". After waiting for an interview notice, I put in a service request and the reply to that was that USCIS was performing background checks and to wait for six months. Our lawyer put in another request, this time with a supervisor in Chicago, and we got the following response on 8.31.11: "This is in response to your inquiry dated August 15, 2011. Service records indicate your request for scheduling of your I-130 is pending. The service will send you a letter by mail when your I-130 has been schedule."

I dont know if this latest response means anything, so I don't want to get my hopes up. I'm at my wit's end like so many others who have gone through this process. Should I have my lawyer write to our congressman? What else can I do? I feel so helpless.
