Greetings VisaJourney Pipz,

Recently, I have received an email notification from USCIS that my EAD card and NOA for AP document was returned since it's non-deliverable. I think this is crazy since we have already been receiving NOAs for received application, biometrics appointment, and my son's NOA for approved AP document.

We have called the USCIS the day we received the notice that it was returned since it's non-deliverable and have the mail sent in the name of my husband instead in case USPS got so dumb to recognize my name after tons of letters and packages sent to our address with my name on it. The following day after we had called USCIS to resend the mail, I received another email notice from them saying the same thing that it's returned and non-deliverable...

How many times do I need to call USCIS to have this thing straightened out??? I desperately need that EAD card so I could get a job and help my husband since we're on the verge of getting broke. This whole AOS, EAD and AP process is really driving me nuts! USPS especially drives me crazy... I officially don't like USPS!

Is your name on the mailbox? It's weird it's suddenly undeliverable. If i were you I would make an INFOPASS appointment to try and find out what's going on.

Verify that the address is correct with the USCIS. If it's correct, go to your local Post Office (USPS) and ask them why it is being returned to sender as undeliverable.

Same type of thing happened to us! The NOA for the Travel Authorization was returned to USCIS as undeliverable, but the NOA for the EAD and AOS and biometrics letter made it here. Obviously we used the same name and address for all the forms and they were mailed in together. Just checked spelling and all info on what we sent in and it's correct. Obviously this is just another USCIS incompetence. I sympathize with your frustration, but not sure what to do about it...

By the way, do the EAD and AP documents usually come together if you apply for them at the same time? Just don't want the EAd to be delayed because of the AP delay...

09/02/10 Mailed I-129F

09/07/10 NOA1

03/17/11 NOA2 approved

06/06/11 Interview. Visa approved. Told we'll get visa in 7-10 days. Lies.

07/12/11 Visa in hand

07/15/11 Arrival in the U.S.

07/21/11 Marriage

07/28/11 Mailed I-485

08/03/11 NOA for I-485

08/29/11 Biometrics

10/17/11 Greencard interview. Approved.

They're a joint card now.

Just an FYI - the above poster got their paperwork in 2010. It is NOW a joint card. If you file both AP and EAD you get the EAD card with the AP authorization on it.

Are you sure? Just yesterday we got an e-mail saying the AP is approved, but no mention of EAD: so it's can't be on the same card

Yeah I'm sure. This has happened to a few people. They get their EAD and wonder where the AP is 'cause they got approved for it and then we tell them it has "Serves as I-512 Advanced Parole" on it.

Add to that, several people don't find the online system to be terribly reliable so I'd keep an eye out. By all means please report back with what you get :)

Darn it! We're really waiting for the EAD...the AP is a "just in case" thing. So I guess we've just been held up a month while our AP NOA was lost in the mail and the re-routed to USCIS! Grrr.... Dont some people only apply for the EAD though?

It is possible to still get them separately, say if someone only applied for one, and not the other, or if the two parts get separated (like in your case ecce). If the two applications are together then a combo card will be issued, but the separate pieces (EAD card and AP paper) still exist. I don't think a lost AP will result in a delayed EAD. Probably the AP will get matched up with wherever the EAD is in line though, and be approved at the same time the EAD would have been in any case - in other words, you won't lost time on the EAD and probably the AP will be approved with it, even if you sent the AP part back in a week ago.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Hmm...that's interesting, as we only got our AP and no EAD, despite the fact the we applied for both at the same time

I thought you said that yesterday you got an email notification about AP being approved, not that you got anything in the mail. The online system is very unreliable, and "Card production" happens after the actual approval (and this "card production" email is tied to the EAD only). It's possible that you will get them separately, but I bet when you get something in the mail it will be a combo card. Let us know when you get it.
