Hi, I did a search on this but came up empty and am very curious if this is a strange situation or business as usual.

I am going through the NVC process with an F1 category and a priority date that became current late last year. The entire package was mailed about 5-6 weeks before retrogression occurred and it wasn't until around March of this year that I received a letter asking for an original copy of a document that was submitted promptly and from my understanding was satisfactory.

Just recently I received another letter asking to submit an Affidavit of Support, being curious about this I called up the NVC line and they informed me that I would have to resubmit (by mail) a new Affidavit of Support, DS230 and all civil documents again. After all this, they "would schedule an appointment". I asked to confirm that I would still be waiting for a visa to be available and the operator seemed to have added a "Yes" as an afterthought stating that they are currently working on May 2004 dates.

So is this normal procedure? Do documents have to be resubmitted after X amount of time?

It hasn't really been a year since my document submission, I guess the NVC expects it to be?

With the priority date having moved back about 18 months from mine and unless dates move like they did in 2010, I might have to resubmit a third time?

Could they have simply lost all my paperwork or something?

Lastly, I'm pretty sure there is no reserved visa for me or anything like that, but I guess I still have a little bit of hope left. So should I hurry up and send all this in again or wait to see how those visa bulletins start moving in this new fiscal year?

Thanks in advance for any information/advice.

I think they want the last updated of your financial status of your sponsor which is your father since you are in F1 category. If you are not sure you can always clarify with NVC the reason for resubmitting the Affidavit of Support. Rather than ignore their requests, you should follow their instructions and ask questions if you are not sure about particular procedure. Good luck. Oh by the way, what is your priority date?

My priority date is in December 2005, the F1 category is unmarried sons/daughters of US citizens. My mother is the petitioner.

I'm not planning on ignoring their request, I'm just curious as to the nature of it. It's a little puzzling to me as to why they would want a resubmission of a police certificate that they got less than a year ago, from a country that I haven't been to in 5 years. When asked why, the operator just said they needed the documents again, I'm not going to argue with them so I came here in hopes someone could shed some light on the issue.

The best explanation I could come up with myself is that even though it has been less than a year since my submission of the original documents, it will probably be more than a year before I even see my priority date current again, let alone get close to an interview - and they want updated information.

I guess that by the time your priority date is current it could be a year from the last time you submitted completed document which is around February or March but I hope it will be sooner. I think you should join the below thread. They are all F1 category in which you could share your experiences or ask questions.
