So the rugby world cup starts on Friday and I for one will be dragging my butt out of bed at some ungodly hours of the night to catch all the England games live via ITV1's Streaming service and some help from Expat Shield.

Will anyone else be getting up at crazy over the next couple of months to cheer on their own team in the big one ??

I din't want to call this an official thread as I don't know if there are any others out there.

Good luck to everyone and may the best team win (as long as that team in ENGLAND !!)

I took wifey to Ilkley last year to see some Rugby Union. Being American, she missed all the pads and helmets and lycra bottoms and little towel hanging over their bits and bobs and all the congratulations and celebrations every time anyone did anything at all

It was raw and primeval and the real thing. Blood, mud and no dancing celebrations - just grim determination and steaming packs. Wonderful.

I always like the blacks and I didnt get to see them when I visited NZ. I will next time I go. The Taffies and the English are too inconsistent but the blacks make it flow like hot motor oil

When I was 15 I was 6 ft and loved my rugby coz I was big. When I was 17, I was still 6ft and we (school) played the British Army. I was shorter than any of them and we were beaten to a pulp. I retired at 17 but love to watch it.

American football is such a girly game with all that padding and helmets and patting each other's bot -bots every time they do something

Alan, why are you staring at that little towel? American football players have to wear pads, because they aren't wee men like rugby.

I won't be watching but I will be following the results online. I'm going with Ireland. Gotta support the ancestral homeland!
