Hello to all .

New on VJ . I have a few questions and hoping someone can help . First a little history . I currently live in the Dominican Republic . Started k1 in June ,and am currently awaiting NOA2. I filed in the Vermont Office .Santo Domingo is the consulate in the DR.

Now for the questions .

Is there anyway to get a package # 3 ?

What is included in it ? IE -Police reports and where do get them?

Does the Consulate here require I-134 OR I-864 ?

If it is possible to get one how would I go about it ?

Thank you

JAFO

As my fiance is also in the Dominican Republic, I can tell you that others who are currently waiting for a K-1 visa interview in Santo Domingo say that a "packet #3" will probably never be received (which apparently is no big deal anyhow).

And according to the current trends, your wait for a Consulate interview will be approximately 24-30 months (at the current processing rate), and if "packet #4" isn't received within two weeks of your interview date it can be picked-up, in-person, at the Consulate, two or three weeks before the interview .... or the US Citizen can ask that it be mailed to him/her in the States (and then they can forward to the beneficiary in the DR or bring it along when they come down for the interview).

And current theory also says don't bother with the Police Reports yet or the long-version Birth Certificate yet, because they need to be dated within 30 days of your interview (and would be well-expired if obtained right now). As well, don't worry about completing and forms yet, as there is also a chance that any of the forms could be revised between now and then (two years is long time!!).

So, all you can really do at this point is buy stock in good calling-card company ;) , and sign-up for a frequent flier program .... your gonna need lots of calls and visits to get through the wait.

For LOTS more detailed info regarding the K-1 process at the Santo Domingo Consulate you can also refer to DominicanstotheUSA.com.

Good luck!!!

Check the U.S. embassy web site for Dominican Republic. Generally you can download packet three and four using an Adobe product. As to processing times, check the embassy site on VJ for information on the timeline for D.R.

Good luck and learn to be patient.
