A good rule of thumb is to check on the author's pov before posting, especially on this issue because:

1. The Zionist press has been working overtime for more than 40 years, and

2. Spoon-fed Americans have little clue as to the history of the conflict and have been brain-washed into believing that "those people" are the problem.

This conflict has a propaganda history with roots in the segregationist/apartheid era and it hasn't progressed very far from that

God bless you for wanting to explore it for yourself.

I could have started the thread I guess by finding an article from a Palestinian on the opposite view I guess.blink.gif

I already know Sofiyya that both sides are biased and have read both and have tried to find an unbiased reading but that is difficult to find. It is all very contradictory on both sides.

I was wondering if the "right of return" was allowed if that would have solved the problem but something tells me that it wouldn't. So I was wondering if the whole problem is that Israel was mandated in the first place. If that is the case then I doubt Israel will just pack up and go away so it seems that we are at an eternal standoff. Just curious.

The British controlled most of the region to start with. They even set most of the boundaries of the Arab nations as we know them now, without consideration for the people who lived there. As a result all kinds of disparate peoples who had little in common were thrust together and expected to be a nation under an imposed regime that was selected for their desire to serve the west.

Under these chaotic conditions, adding Palestinians to an already volatile mix was not the first wish of rulers who were just holding their own. Besides, accommodating the needs of a rogue nation that had kicked the Palestinians out was also not the to do list of most of the surrounding countries.

Was it just the Israelis that refused to allow the "right of return"? Did the Arabs refuse the Palestinians to return at all?

A lot of folks expected to be able to come back, my grandparents included. But, they weren't allowed to. That's why we keep our deeds in a box refuse to forgive and forget.

Your family has more money than God (your words, not mine).

You can buy a piece of land anywhere in the world. Why would you go back to the barren dust bowl of parched farmland that is Palestine where nothing grows without a human putting it there and an industrial-strength sprinkler system big enough to drain the Sea of Galilee?

We intend to go back to Jerusalem.

Yes I read about many years ago how the British just looked at a map and drew lines to carve up many areas. The many reasons they gave were strange mostly.
