I remember the Gypsy Jokers, Devils Disciples, Pagans and Outlaws along with HA. The Pagans are an Eastern US club. There are Outlaw and HA chapters out here too, along with their affiliate clubs.

They had a local group in Anchorage called the "Brothers". Not the greatest bunch of peeps, but by no way a bunch of drug dealing killers. They Angles incorporated and then they went to h*ll.

My brother and I were getting ivory from the Red Dog mine up in Kotzebue, had a first rate carver for it and then we sold it to a guy named "Junior" who was VP for the Angels up here. He in turn got it into the lower 48 were he made a small fortune from it. Anyways Junior went to the joint for something...nothing to do with the Ivory and we were owed a bunch of money by the Angels up here for said ivory. They told my brothers to fck off and take a hike. So my little brother went to their club house, capped one in the knee and then stole their coke...like a lot of coke. The Feds got involved in that one also. It was less than a year later I ended up getting stabbed in the back by one in my apt. building. This was in '87.

I'l say pretty much the same thing on here that we told the Feds when they talked to us. They offered us that stupid witness protection thing and we just laughed. The young Fed said this was serious business and that some peeps from California could come up here to handle things, and we asked the old Fed how long had that guy been up here on the job? We told him this is Alaska, that it wasn't our first rodeo, and if anything bad started happening they were going to start finding Angelsi n snow banks buried head first.

My uncle Lou was managing two clubs at the time for a guy named Johnny Bernardi who was tied in with Frank Calicuccio (Bonnano family). My first job in Alaska ( I was 17), was going around to the after hours joints and Greek restaurants (large Greek community up here) and collecting envelops. I never looked inside them...I knew it was money, but my uncle told me if someone didn't hand me over an envelope to go to the nearest pay phone and let him know. This was before cell phones.

My uncle was a character. The night before I flew out to basic training he closed the bar as usual and had a couple of hookers come in and take care of me. He said to them "If I hear about you asking my nephew for a nickel, you know what's going to happen right?"

He had a few hookers that would come into the bar and work the slope workers (oil field) and commercial fishermen. He got his cut and those gals made a mint. He even supplied gals to the poker games the Greeks used to throw after they closed their restaurants for the night. Back then Alaska was wide open, just about everyone carried a gun and it was open territory.

The Angles on the other hand were the minority up here and it wasn't them that called the shots in Anchorage. They learned that quick like.
