Once you have a job, your employer will petition/ ask for the visa for you. You'll be filling in some forms and eventuslly go to an interview, but they (or rather, their lawyer) will do most of the work.

If you are wondering how to ask an employer to get you a work visa- employers who actively hire from abroad, as some hospitals do, will already know how it works. For smaller employers, mention the need for a visa at interview, if not before.

I know that I need a job to get a visa but how do I ask? Do I just ask straight forward or is there a special way to ask or something? I just want things to go smoothly. Also, how would I receive a green card through employment?

you have to find a company who will sponsor you. do you know on what type of visa would you be applying for? there are several work visas.

but you have to find an employer who is able to sponsor you, they will take care of the visa paperwork through an attorney.

Read the experiences on this forum.

Aren't you planning to marry your boyfriend? That is a path to a green card.

For an employment visa you need to find a company that wants to / needs to hire you and is willing to spend the time and money to petition for your visa.

When applying for a job make it clear that you will require sponsorship for a work visa.
