Hi All,

I had few problems with fiance and broke up just before the K1 visa interview so i did not go to the interview but we have now resolved our issue and are back together again and was wondering if it is still possible for the embassy to give me another interview date or if the application will be cancelled?

Many Thanks.

OP -

I haven't been in your situation before but think the chances of getting another interview are slim to none. Maybe if you would have asked for a new interview date in advance but don't think it's possible now.

You can always try.

Best wishes!

I would call the embassy helpline and ask for the email code so you can write to a person who can give you answers. The person on the phone is not the one to get the final answer from. You will have to ask them what steps you need to take to get you petition extended and ask for a new interview. Be sure and state you indeed want the K1 visa and intend to marry {fiance name} within 90 days of entering the US.

And think about it too. If you could break up that easily, will it work this time? It's not easy to change countries and leave behind all you are familiar with. You've got to be way stronger than you anticipate. Good luck to you!

Relationships are tough, at least good ones any way. Immigration is tougher than anything. Two negative do not make a positive, make sure you got it all together.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

The petition approval has an expiration date. If you are still within that you can contact the consulate for a new interview date and request an extension of the approval if necessary

I agree. My husband and I have argued many times over the six years we have been in a relationship, but we have never once broken up.

Thank you all for all your Good advise, i know relationships are harder and i am willing to work harde too. Thanks alot

The Petitioner can contact the consulate in writing reaffirming the petition and requesting a new interview be scheduled for you. The consulates have the authority to re-validate petitions. Its no big deal.

Wish you guys all the best.

Keep in mind also that if I was a CO and one of my cases first missed the interview, then asked for a new interview, my first two questions at the interview would be, in this order:

1. Why did you miss the first interview?

2. Why should I believe this won't happen again after you get a visa?

Make sure you have good answers to those questions because if you don't, the interview might be very short.

Best,
