Women got the right to vote. That changed.

How did that change the part of society that matters though?

Let's be honest. At the end of the day, social issues are irrelevant. The fact the people try and make them seem relevant is the exact problem we are facing today.

Too many idiots out there cheering for 'gay rights' while it's an unimportant step in the 'progress' of this nation. Too many people crying over abortion, worrying about everyone being covered for health care, etc... It's all meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

The only thing that matters at the end of the day is the economy. It's the be all and end all of this country. The fact that the American people haven't had an ounce of 'say so' in the economy for almost a century is all anyone should need to know about why this country is in the mess that its in.

No, they're not.

way to miss the point yet again.

Tell me, what good are social issues if you cannot afford to live life comfortably?

What good is 'gay marriage' is the couple can't put enough food on the table because inflation is through the roof and a loaf of bread it $10?

dignity is something that is perceived. Just like any other social issue. Social issues are 'moral' and change over time. They're an opinion, not a fact.

Again, what good is dignity if you cannot live a healthy life once you have obtained it (in your mind)?

So, to you, a $3 loaf of bread is more important than all citizens of a nation being afforded the same rights, opportunity and access to participate in government? Nice Paul.

How much is a loaf of bread now? A crappy loaf in a regular supermarket.

a crappy loaf is around $1.30

That's up $0.50 in the last year or two alone.

The 'name brand' crappy loafs are up to $1.99-$2.49 that's up $0.70-$1.00 in the last year or two.

Now take those price adjustments and add them to every item in your shopping cart. Now put yourself on the same fixed income you were 2 years ago. Let's say you have 20 items in your cart. That's $10 extra at the store now, over the course of 52 weeks in a year, that's an extra $520/year.

It makes a big difference.

20 years ago I could fill a shopping cart full of name-brand groceries for around $80. If I were to do the exact same thing today, with the same items, I'd spend well over $200.

THAT is a huge problem.

So, to you, a $3 loaf of bread is more important than all citizens of a nation being afforded the same rights, opportunity and access to participate in government? Nice Paul.

Things that make you 'feel good' are irrelevant to making the country function day to day, yes.

Right, so civil rights are irrelevant to you? I thought you were a libertarian.

Civil rights and women's suffrage = BS... Not only BS but some sort of conspiracy to keep people "bickering "

That's a comedy classic right there. Perhaps the Illuminati were involved. Presumably the plot of the next Dan Brown book of toilet paper.

Sure, they're relevant to me. However they are not relevant at this moment in time because of the economy.

Social issues should always be on the backburner. Social issues should never trump economic issues. The moment you allow everyone to get worked up over social issues, is the moment congress can sneak something in that can damage the way of life for all members of society. Social issues provide nothing more than a distraction at the end of the day from what's really important.

Libertarianism in the popular American context is little more than a euphemism for bigoted narcissism.

The 'illuminati' term is amusing, though maybe not far from the truth. The groups are not-so-secret though in this day and age. They act right out in the open and we let the heads turn government, way of life, etc. each and every day.

If you understand anything about "The Creature of Jekyll Island" as G. Edward Griffin put it, then you'd understand that Americans haven't had any control whatsoever over our economy in the last century.

The fact that you can so easily discard civil rights means you are only a LINO.
