Affidavit... Original or Copy?

Hi all,

So, I signed the divorce paper this week like my soon-to-be ex requested. (She wanted to protect her asset, which I had no intention of seeking whatsoever in the first place, and that was fine by me.) And hopefully the divorce decree will arrive soon. And I've gathered evidence and affidavits from friends and a relative to file the I-751 application with a waiver.

My question is on the affidavits. Am I supposed to submit the originals or copies of them? I know that I'm submitting copies of any evidence, but wasn't clear on affidavits.

I'd greatly appreciate it if you can answer this. Thanks.

Yes! I am approved!!! :)

It took only two (2) months to be approved. Hooray!

Hmmm normally I would say copies but I think in this instance originals would be best. Take copies for your records though. Worst case scenario you can have new originals done of those, but harder for originals of other documents (like birth certs etc)

Thanks.

I actually went back and read the instructions again. Thoroughly this time... LOL. And on page 2 it reads:

'The original affidavit must be submitted and also contain the following information regarding the person making the affidavit...'

So, you were right. I didn't mind submitting the original but wanted to double check, you know. Now I know for sure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

God bless you.
