What is the exact process at the immigration counter .where do you have to give the packet ?

I have read of sometimes they ask your for your marriage certificate or birth certificate.

What is the exact process at the immigration counter .where do you have to give the packet ?

At POE, you will get to the immigration area, where everyone goes. Once you reach the counter, give them your passport and the closed envelopes (Visa and Vaccination) and you will be directed to a different place for processing.

They will open the sealed envelopes and check the content. So take your Marraige Certificate and Birth Certificate and 4 photos, just to be safe. Then your details will be entered into the system. While this is going on, they casually will be asking some questions like - when did you get married or what does your husband/ wife do for living.... So remember all inportant details about your marraige and your spouse on top of your head.

By and large the POE is good and easy but be prepared.

Palladin case had a red flag (earlier divorce) and his wife wasn't prepared well and could answer questions to related to that previous marraige and it looked like the majority of questions were asked in that area. If one has a red flag, expect for sure questions related to that area. The red flag could be big as previous divorces, inter-religious or inter-country maaiages, .. or small as registered marraige (in my case).

The CO asked my wife the number of guest were present at our registered marraige. When answered truthfully a small number, she wanted to know the reason - she said that only a few close relatives were allowed inside the sub-registrar's office. She also mentioned that it was season of lent, when churches do not celebrate marraiges.

The bottom line is we should expect questions in the areas where we have relative weakness - it is because of that we prepared well with questions related to registered marraige and I had to make a trip to her interview. My advise to all that will be going to their interviews is to look critically into your case (place yourself into the shoes of the CO) and look for some area of relative weakness and prepare for possible questions in that area.
