Hi,

We are getting ready to file the i-485 form. But we have a couple of questions. First my wife wasn't able to support me since she made bolivian salary so her father was the sponsor. Now we are filing them as joint sponsors and she makes more than the poverty line, would that be a problem?

She is a teacher so in order for her to have a job with her old teaching license we haven't changed her name. Do we need to do that before sending it? how long does it take to change her name?

Any suggestions or ideas would be really appreciated

thank you

You don't have to change her name. If she wants a new name on the GC then she just writes that on her AOS papers and it'll be done. Then she can start changing the rest. She doesn't have to change it before, often easier to do the rest of the change after she has the GC. But if she doesn't want to, no need.
