USCIS Accepted my petition and now....?

Hello.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I live in Argentina with my husband and the USCIS received our petition on July 1rst. I checked my status on the computer and it says "On August 31, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice."

Now I know I should be patient and wait for it to read what it says but I am DYING to know what this notice will say, and what instructions or whatever will it include.

If somebody who has been in my situation could appease me and tell me what I so desperately want to know I will be eternally grateful. I am trying to work on my patience! But who can blame me for my excitement and wonder?

We've been approved!

Hello,

I know the "dying to know" feeling you have. I am in the same situation but my husband is in Tunisia. Just think of those notices as one step closer and be very very patient. Keep following up and read as much as you can about your case.

On my approval letting it said the same exact thing.. There is not really "instructions" for you to follow. What it will say is that they are sending your case to the National Visa Center and you should wait at least 30 days before contacting them about your case. They will then start sending you bills to pay and make sure you read the instructions so you know what to send next.

I hope this helps! Good luck to you!

Hi, congrats on your approval. Did you expedite your case? My application was sent June 29th and my priority date was July 5th. And Im still waiting for my NOA-2. I wonder why you were approved so quick? But anyhow, congrats!

I think the NVC will give you specific instructions once your case will reach to their office. But while waiting, you might want to take a look at this link. This might help you prepare the documents that may be needed thru your NVC process. Goodluck!

Here's some light reading for the 4 or so months till you're approved! You'll go to the NVC post USCIS so check out these three versions of the NVC's process to give you a VERY complete picture of it. James' shortcuts , Ling Che's shortcuts at NVC , and How to Bring your spouse to US (Loto's shortcut). One of these three should be to your style of learning. Best of luck!!

I think we were accepted so fast because of the following....

We sent lots of pictures of us together and with his family. We live together. We have been married for more than a year. And we hired a lawyer. Plus we wrote truly heartfelt statements about how we met and our life together.

It says to call the NVC. But shouldn't I wait until I receive a package before I call them? Or Should I call them now?

Including the items you mentioned and having a lawyer have nothing to with how fast or slow a petition is approved. Sometimes some files make to an adjudicator's desk ahead of some others for no rhyme or reason. Your file was in this fortunate category.

It says to call the NVC. But shouldn't I wait until I receive a package before I call them? Or Should I call them now?

Don't wait to receive a package from the NVC, you can call them now. They will tell you the date your file arrived there. If the file is in the building but not in the system, you will be told that it takes 10-20 business days for the file to be entered into the system. Once the file is in the system is when a case number will be assigned. Since you have a lawyer, the lawyer will automatically be designated as the agent on the case so you will not have to deal with submitting the DS-3032.
