Hello!

I have just started volunteering to teach a college prep course for immigrants whole first language is not English at a community college in Vermont.

I am an immigrant also but as English is my first language I decided to help out fellow immigrants on their journey.

It is in Vermont but I am sure there are organization in other States that serve the same purpose. Here is the link for Vermont in case anyone is interested. It seems a good organization and their classes are free...which is nice.

Which campus? Alla is also teaching English for Vermont Adult Learning at Ft. Ethan Allen and for The Vermont Refugee Center. She taught for the IEP course at St Micheals college for her Practicum II.

She is also a student currently at CCV/Burlington (Winooski) for microbiology and mathematics. She is taking math "just because" and microbiology to help her with medical interpretation.

If you are near Burlington, contact Fletcher Allen Health Care regarding interpretting for them and Vermont Refugee Center (Colchester) handles all the interpretors for the sourt system, USCIS, State a federal government agencies, etc.

She also just recently completed a 5 week course to be certified in medical interpretation. It was taught locally in Burlington, I am not sure when they will repeat the course.
