Maricopa County Sheriffs deputies raided two restaurants and arrested seven people on suspicion of using false identification Friday, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported.

Deputies searched two Moreno's Mexican Grill locations looking for up to 14 employees suspected of using fake IDs to secure employment. The restaurants were in Mesa and Chandler.

"Out of this restaurant -- 5 out of 8 are illegally in this country that we believe," Sheriff Arpaio told MyFoxPhoenix of the Mesa location. "And out of the other one 2 out of 4."

Arpaio said he had received a trip about the Moreno's five months ago and that his office is now looking into whether the employer knew about the fake IDs.

"With the unemployment problem maybe they will hire legitimate U.S. citizens now to fill the five vacancies here and not hire those in this country illegally," Arpaio said.

The restaurants' owners had no comment.

This was the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office's 53rd workplace raid.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Well that's a bit obvious. Perhaps they should have sought employment at Big John's American Grill?

Let's hope so. Nothing wrong with trying to earn a living. It's foolish to think they would go after a Mexican food restaurant. The only thing this will do is eventually force owners to close down, which ultimately hurts the economy. Bad move IMO. Continue going after the hard core criminals. Arizona just doesn't seem to get it.

Seeing as how Obama the Socialist has stopped deportment proceedings against any but the hard core criminal they should be let out as soon as the TV cameras are shut off.

You never know. It might force them to pay decent wages and hire American citizens.

Arizona gets it. Roughly 70% of the American electorate gets it. Washington doesn't get it, doesn't want to get it and has too much financial "incentive" to do anything about it even if they did get it.

PHOENIX -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at a Phoenix hotel Wednesday morning, looking for illegal workers.

Deputies raided the Days Inn at Fifth Avenue and Camelback Road after a two month-investigation into whether the general manager had been knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said they have information that 10 of the 18 employees are in the country illegally using false identification.

One employee was arrested for aggravated identification theft and forgery. Deputies continue to search for the other nine.

"I'm very happy we don't catch all of them," Arpaio said. "I'm sure they'll be heading south, make more vacancies for U.S. citizens. The owner here is going to have to hire some employees. I hope they're U.S. citizens."

Three victims are out of state residents. Arpaio said the illegal immigrants used the victims' Social Security numbers.

The general manager was not on the premises at the time of the raid.

This was MCSO's 51st employer sanctions/illegal immigration investigation.

"I'm not concerned with the president's new policy on deportation," Arpaio said. "We're going to continue doing what we've been doing. These raids, we believe, caused the vacancies of over 1,000 positions. Once again, I hope they're being filled by U.S. citizens and not those here illegally in our country."

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
