Hi,

I have to send my NVC packet for my wife and I am only missing the PCC Certificate. The issue is,

My wife is from Gujarat and her passport is issued by Ahmedabad Office. She works and now lives in Mumbai for a while. When I applied for her IR/CR1, I had put her Mumbai address. Now will the PCC from Ahmedabad work? Or does she need to change her password to Mumbai (long process) and reapply for PCC from Mumbai?

This is very confusing and any advice is helpful.

Regards,

Neel

How long has she lived in Mumbai?

If she has lived over 6 months - she can get a police (PCC) from her local police station in Mumbai.

She will have to go to CID HQs in Mumbai and fill out the form for PCC -> They will give her letter for local police station -> Take that to local police station -> They would write the letter that there are no case against her etc. -> Take that letter back to CID HQs -> They will ask her to come back in couple weeks and they will have final letter ready on their letter head for Consulate.

She'll still need a passport clearance certificate from the office that issued her passport which is from the Ahmedabad office.

I wouldn't spend time trying to have her passport reissued, just take whatever police clearance certificates you already have and take them to the Ahmedabad office. She'll have to go to counter #7 for miscellaneous services.

Here is the link to the application she'll need to complete:

I've asked several times and I've never heard of an instance where someone was able to get the non-issuing passport office to give him/her a passport clearance certificate.

Your wife may be able to procure the services of an agent to whom she could mail the passport and fee and they will get the certificate for her if she can't travel. Some offices allow this, some do not.

Good luck!
