I was just completing the 1-130 for my 17 y/old son to come to the usa. I am the CR-1 holder, my husband (step father) is the USC and he will petition for my son to come here to the USA. We have all of the documentation for the I-130, do we have to complete a G-325A for him as well? It doesn't say so in the procedures for bringing step children to the USA? Would he need a passport picture too at this step? I just would like to mail it out this week and get it started.

My son will be living in Canada until this is complete.

Thanks

A G-325A and passport pictures are not required when a US citizen files for a stepchild. The G-325a and passport picture are required ONLY when a person petitions for a spouse.

You need to ignore the I-130 instructions about petitioning a spouse (G-325A and passport picture). You need to concentrate on the Stepparent/Stepchild requirements - 1) a copy of the marriage certificate showing marriage between petitioner US citizen stepparent and stepchild's parent occurred before the stepchild's 18th birthday, 2) copies of documents that all prior marriages were legally terminated (divorce papers and/or death certificates), and 3) a copy of the stepchild's birth certificate.

DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS. SEND ONLY PHOTOCOPIES OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS WITH THE I-130.

Thanks so much,I have all of this and will mail it off with payment. I'm assuming it's the same as before.
