Hi,

My application filed on May 16 was just approved yesterday. The case will now be sent to NVC, I am currently traveling to India to meet my wife, is there any documents that i need to get from her or get signed from her so I don't have to mail them from the US? Do we need a PCC for her at this stage or can that wait? PCC in India takes some time.

Please advice.

Regards,

Neel

Your timeline indicates you are filing for a CR-1. If so then yes you need the police clearance for the NVC.

Here is what we sent for the IV package to the NVC

Police Clearance

Marriage Certificate

Passport Bio Page

Visa Photos

DS-230 (she signs the first part only)

For china we used notarized copies of the marriage certificate and police certificate as that is what Guangzhou generally wants. I would get all of these while visiting her and then you are good to go when you get back home. If you have all your AOS papers together like tax returns and bank statements you can send all these while you are in India and if your stay is long enough you might be able to get through the interview and bring her back with you

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have all documents except for the Police Clearance Certificate. I have a question here, and maybe someone can help. My wife's passport is from a different state (Gujarat, IN) and after marriage she has been living here in Mumbai, MH, India. If I apply for her PCC, it will be done as per her passport which is issued by Gujarat, and I have put her Mumbai address on I130. Will it make any difference?

Ok, first which passport office she got her passport issued from?? In surat, they issue pcc on the basis of NAO1 and NAO2 copies but that is not the case in Ahmedabad but you can still try it. You will not need any police certificate when you submit the DS-230 to NVC because they accept application without pcc only for mumbai consulate as they are aware that PCC are issued after presenting the interview letter in gujarat. Just put a note on the coversheet stating this

*** IMP NOTE:

Beneficiary has been assigned Mumbai Consulate and Passport Office in the state of Gujarat, India, requires interview letter in order to issue a PCC to the beneficiary. The beneficiary will present the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) at the time of interview at the Mumbai consulate.

once you get the file completed at nvc and get interview letter from NVC/or the mumbai consulate, go ahead and get the pcc from passport office and local police station. you will need to submit the pcc from passport office as well as from local police station (could be from more than one place if she stayed at multiple places after the age of 16 for more than 6 months. In your case based on your post you will need local police clearance from gujarat and maharashtra) and submit during interview.

i don't know about the different address situation but someone else may give you a better answer on that.
