It is indeed bizarre that even centrist opinions become a matter of "left/right" / "liberal/conservative"

On that point I haven't seen too many "hard left" communist types floating around on VJ, but that doesn't seem to stop the bald accusations flying around. I might as well refer to self-styled neoconservatives as "fascist", but that wouldn't be honest or representative. Its interesting that even traditionally liberal opinions (concerning capitalism and the free market economy) get classed as conservative, while apparently defending the constitution and balance of power among the various branches of government has become "fashionably liberal". Very topsy-turvy...

People need to address issues honestly, based on their own convictions as opposed to the usual polarised mudslinging that goes around.

I read what he said I am just asking if you were voted into congress or god forbid became president, what would you do to solve the growing issues of terrorism at hand?

We can't solve the issues of terrorism without giving up our wealth, power and global dominance.

Terrorism is a nuisance but we have to live with it. At the end of the day, obesity, cancer and

heart disease claim more lives than terrorism. More people die in car accidents, but we don't

see the government declare a "war on cars".

I suspect support of the policy would rapidly diminish if it were told exactly how it is - that to ensure our economic security and cultural supremacy well-being we have to 'lean on' and 'squeeze' a bunch of other people.

The question then one of personal ethics - to what extent should narrow self interest come at the expense of other countries in the 3rd world. After all, why do you think anarchists always call for a "general redistribution of the world's wealth?".

I don't think so. Only this morning, I read in the paper that GWB's approval rating had

risen to 44% amid falling gas prices. Most people only care about the foreign policy

inasmuch as it affects their daily lives.
