This seems like evil people trying to justify their depraved need to inflict pain on children.

I guess you could compare this to, a parent who locked their kid in closet for days....... and then blame the "Time-out" method of disciple.

When you think about the effort: The amount of beating one would have to inflict with such a light-weight object.....to actually kill a person, it's horrifying.

Before these two monsters are put to death, they should be caned for 30 minutes.

That is hard core, that is not your normal 3 to 4 times a year pulling out the belt.

IN the vid you posted, the 15 "licks".. was not for "horseplay"...... it was for "slugging" his sister.

Guess my memory isn't that great. I watched the video last night at midnight and I didn't remember exactly what the punishment was for....

But by bolding "slugging" his sister you make it sound like she gets a black eye, broken jaw, and bloody nose.

The kid is 50 pounds and 7 years old (avg. weight of a 7 year old boy). I think horseplay would better sum up the crime. Slugging makes it sound like she was even mildly hurt.

Bottom line is if that is your grand-paw then you are going to be terrified of him as a kid.

I guess this could come down to "word play" but really, if someone slugged your wife or mother, I doubt you would think it so trivial.

I heard the CNN story on XM radio. The man who beat his kids is FAR RIGHT EXTREME "Christian."

When he would talk about how he selects a spatula or belt or piece of pipe to "give 15 licks" to his kid, it made me sick to hear his psycho azz.

Bottom line is, anyone can hijack a religious philosophy and justify their evil deeds in it. Be it Muslim, Christian, Hindu or Atheism.

I think if you are going to spank your child, you should do it with your hand not an object..

that being said I am against spanking a child.. your child hits his sister so his punishment is getting hit? yeah, that makes sense...

I am all for disciplining your child and reinforcing already established rules but using spankings, beatings as your only form of punishment,...is just plain lazy. And excusing that with religious phrases is even worse.

Children learn a lot better and effectivly through praise after they do something good than through punishment after they did something "bad".
