Lease and bills in proving continuing relationship?

Ben's J1 visa is running out, and we are filing for the K1. I know we will need to prove continuing relationship at the interview, so would it help to leave his name on my car insurance and on the lease to show that he still has ties to me/the US? Obviously we will have call logs and chats too, but would this be a good thing to do also?

He went back to Australia at the end of his J1 Visa on Sept 22nd 2011 :(

It's not ties to the US its showing a bona fide relationship that matter.

Is he returning to satisfy the home residency requirement of the J1 visa? Why not marry here and adjust status?

We would because that would be way easier but we don't have the 1k+ dollars for the adjustment of status right now :(

Also our families probably wouldn't be happy with us if we got married quickly, my brother did that recently and my sisters have said they will kill me if I did that... They support our relationship but want us to do things "the right way". Believe me I weighed all the options and considered just getting married and adjusting status despite our family's feelings on that, but ultimately I can't afford it and even if I could we just wouldn't feel right getting married without our families around.
