Anything east of the Rocky Mountains is irrelevant to my interests.

ETA: There was this teenage French girl up in Montreal the summer of 1975, but I am sure she is old, fat, and ugly by now.

I know - I keep getting old gf's befriending me on facebook and jeez - short hair and 300 pounds and 5 ugly kids (not mine obviously) and dressed like garbage sorters with bust elastic on their pants- what happened to them

1980 and the stardust disco was only a moment away

The worse racism I've ever experienced was in the DC/Maryland area. Time spent in Rockville and Gaithersberg, MD in particular, scarred me forever. White men there tried to pull me into their cars, telling me they "know what Black women want." Blacks chided me for being "high yella". My former brother-in-law was constantly referred to as "that Chinese guy", and he's not even Asian. People in the NE are incredibly ignorant about race and about when they're being offensive. In contrast, I've traveled all through the South with no problem.

A local talk show host in Denver traveled to the NE a few years ago and came back fuming about how badly he was treated because people thought he was Black (he's Italian-American). It was kind of funny because I could relate (I'm not Black either).

You can find that backwater ####### almost anyplace east of the Rockies. My BIL was always getting ragged on by patients at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, where he worked as a physical therapist, just for being Filipino. Out west we mostly make fun of greenhorns and tourists, regardless of your race, your creed, or your color.

That reminded me of a nickname given to a Black kid I went to school with (by other blacks) in NJ, they used to call him "Yellow boy".
