Me neither. I always was told that, "The Eye of the Needle" refers to a particular gate in Jerusalem. I learned something too.

I had heard that gate theory as well. In the end though, I don't think it matters what language it was written in or what 'object' the verse may be literally tranlated as...because I have always interpreted it allegorically. So, its always made sense to me... :innocent:

Mark 10:21-27,31 Jesus looked steadily at him and loved him, and he said, "There is one thing you lack. Go and sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." But his face fell at these words and he went away sad, for he was a man of great wealth. Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!" The disciples were astounded by these words, but Jesus insisted, "My children," he said to them, "how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." They were more astonished than ever. "In that case," they said to one another, "who can be saved?" Jesus gazed at them. "For men," he said, "it is impossible, but not for God: because everything is possible for God... Many who are first will be last, and the last first."

Jesus takes (steals?) a donkey:

Matthew 21:1-3

New Living Translation (NLT)

Jesus' Triumphant Entry

1 As Jesus and the disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to the town of Bethphage on the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two of them on ahead. 2 "Go into the village over there," he said. "As soon as you enter it, you will see a donkey tied there, with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone asks what you are doing, just say, 'The Lord needs them,' and he will immediately let you take them."

When I was working on my undergrad in religion we spoke about Jesus's preparation for the Final Supper. The verse LI mentions is a part of that preparation, as Jesus was to use the 'upper room' for the final night of his life, with his 12 disciples. He would be dead a few hours later.

Jesus use of the donkey is a part of the arrangements, as was the use of the upper room. Obviously, Jesus had no earthly possessions and no money either. But, he knew people and arranged the use of the donkey and also the use of the (what would have been very expensive) upper room for the final night of his life....not to mention that this is one of the most mysterious (via the ways of God) nights in the history of the world and mankind...

C'mon now LI - Jesus is the good guy! VJSheesh... :innocent:
