Hi

I received an email "Testing and Interview

Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. You should receive this notice within 14 days. If you do not receive this notice within 14 days from December 7, 2011, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address."

Can anyone please let me know as to how many days it took them to receive the actual notice of the interview after this email was received ?

Congrats, hope everything goes well. I am just wondering if you could tell us what borough of NYC you live at? and where is your interview scheduled?. It would help us august new york filers to estimate how much longer we have to wait for our interview letters.

I passed my test!

December 8th it was and it was so simple!!

I was ready for some tough questions and was confident I knew it all, then they asked me what state borders mexico (i live in AZ!!) and name the ocean on the east coast! I would be amazed if anyone ever doesn't pass the test as it was so simple.

Oh well, now to wait for a letter to tell me when to go down to the courthouse in January to take my oath!

Almost done with this!!

Hi fellow members! I've been a long time reader within these forums since I started my immigration journey and now after a successful naturalization interview yesterday I felt convinced to join the community and share my experience with hopes of helping others!

I received my conditional green card in December 2008. Then in January 2010 I received my 10-year green card without an interview. Finally in September 2011 after the labor day weekend my lawyer sent my n400 application for naturalization. Per my lawyer the only documents sent together with the n400 application is the G-28, photocopy of my green card and web printout of my selective service. I've even had an argument with his office prior to sending the application as I was applying under the 3-year rule of being married to a USC but he was adamant of not sending any additional documents. He suggested that other documents will just have to be brought with me at the interview but not to offer anything to the interviewing officer unless they ask.

My application was processed timely. In October 25th I did my biometrics (did not do early walk-in) and a week after online status changed to Testing and Interview. The week of November 7th I received my interview letter for December 13th at 8am. Then the week of November 14th received Yellow Letter instructing to bring state issued ID and past 3-years IRS Tax Transcripts. Luckily, I've requested the transcripts from IRS back in August so I have this in hand already.

Yesterday, for the interview I brought with me the following documents with me since I am applying under 3-year rule:

- Marriage Certificate

- Birth Certificate both mine and my spouse

- My expired passport

- Social Security Card

- Selective Service Postcard. I requested online they mail me registration proof and what I received is this postcard looking thing.

- 3-years IRS Tax Transcripts

- 3-years Apartment Lease Agreements

- 3-years Joint Checking Statements

- 3-years Cox Utility Bill with both our names

- 3-years AT&T Cellular Bill with both our names

- 3-years Credit Card Statements (2 different cards). Me as the primary card holder and wife authorized user. Also brought photocopy of front and back of each credit card since statements are only under my name.

Wife did not come with me at the interview. Arrived in Santa Ana Civic Center at 7:10am. Stayed in the car until 7:30am then started making my way to the building. Gone through security and was asked to go up 2nd floor. Waited for 30-40 minutes then a middle aged Asian officer called my name and walked me into his office. While walking to his office he asked if my lawyer will be attending and I answered no.

Entered his office. He commented that I have a thick file and asked how I received my green card. I answered through my wife. He asked to be seated then he flicked through my file. Asked for my ID, green card and passport. While going through my file he uttered "oh George..." I don't know what this means and did not bother asking. I am assuming he was reading notes from my AOS stage and that name was who interviewed me and the wife at the time. Then asked me to sign something saying I agree to continue with the interview with the absence of my lawyer. I showed him the YL. He asked me what it said. I told him then he instructed me to just put the YL on the side.

Then went ahead to test me with history, civics and reading & writing.

- Who wrote the constitution?

- Who is in-charge of the executive branch?

- What is his current political party?

- What are two major political party in the USA?

- Name 3 of the 13 original colonies.

- Name a state that borders Mexico.

I answered all questions correctly so he stopped. Then he asked me to write "The people elect congress." and asked me to read "There are 50 states in the United States". After this he asked me to stand, raise my right hand and placed me under oath to the tell the truth. Asked me to sit again, then went through my N400 application. He did not go through every single question but I guess randomly picked what he thought might be important. Then I saw him sign the N400 and after he asked me to do the same. He then said I will recommend you for approval and that I will receive oath schedule anywhere up to 90 days.

Then he ushered to stand up to leave. Before standing up I asked about the YL and whether he needs any of documents stated there. He said no. That he has more than enough in my file and continued to walk out. Before exiting he made a copy of N-562 and gave me a copy. He ticked on that form I passed the test and is being recommended for approval. I thanked him, shook hands and wished him good holidays.

I started walking out very elated!!! In total, the interview only lasted 10 minutes. He did not even asked for any additional documents at all. He was just completely focused on my file and on his computer. I am so very happy that now my journey for US Citizenship is nearing its end and just need to wait for the Oath Ceremony! I hope this bit of information will help others. Good luck everyone!

US CITIZEN!!!!!!! Italo became a US Citizen today! Can someone please update us??? Our ceremony was in Oakland Park Florida where 172 people from 41 countries all became Citizens!!! The journey is now over!!! We are thankful to God for this great blessing!!!
