Quick background, im 23 turning 24 september 9th. my wife turns 21 on october 4th.

We've been together for over 5 years and married for 1.5 years.

Today we had our AOS interview. (im the sponsor, my wife is from England, and i even have my father as a co sponsor)

However I have a very scary (to us) situation. We were not approved on the spot and our lawyer and other people told us that usually you DO get approved on the spot.

The interviewer was very picky about proving a "valid marriage", and although we had lots of evidence such as photographs, joint mail, a joint bank account and so on, we do not have a joint lease, mortgage or any bills as we are living in my parents' house. She took her I-94, made copies of her passport and EAD card though, is that a good thing?

The interviewer then said that she could not make a decision as we did not have enough "official documentation" and that she would have to investigate and give us a response in a few weeks...what kind of thing could she try and look for? And what are our chances of approval? At the end of the interview she did say that we answered all of the questions correctly and there was no problem there.

she said that she needs to investigate further because the main issue was that we didn't have enough "state certified" or "official" documents, so I'm guessing she just wants to look at that kind of thing.

So I think that's a good sign? Also as i said she took her I-94 card and kept it, plus made copies of her social card, EAD card and passport, so I think these are all good things?

Seeing as we're..well kinda poor and living with my folks (until we can save up enough to get on our own) we dont have much with both of our names on it. I have bank statements but thats about as far as it goes. Im not insured via health insurance, she cannot drive yet so she isnt on that either. She also asked if we had any big purchases like furniture or anything like that. But again being tight on cash we have not. The biggest thing we bought together was probably our computer monitor. She said she had to investigate further and would mail us a response within 6 weeks. We need to know what exactly she would be searching for. We did offer to send in information but she said that wouldnt be needed and she'd search on her own.

Any information on whats going on and what to expect would be appreciated. thank you for your time.

Hi,

Don't worry its gonna be ok. Did she interview about when you met, how you met, who and how your proposed etc.

May be in your case immigration officers might show up at your residence to validate the marrige that you two are living together or not.

I am not sure what might she wanna investigate. The above is one of the possibility.

Did she gave you any paper stating to contact or you gonna receive a decission with in a certain time?

In my openion you are fine.

Yes she did ask how we met, when we first met in persion. she didnt ask but i even informed here where i proposed aswell. She did not give us any papers stating to contact us but she did tell us we'll recieve a letter saying if we are approved or not within 6 weeks. Then she continued to explain what we would do next if we were approved. She did NOT try to explain if we werent.

It just sucks.. two people who love eachother and are married that just want to -be- together have to go through so much Bullstiff.

I forgot to add that in the beginning of the interview she had us sign our names and write down our phone numbers and date on back of the first page of the immagration forms that she had.

Wife got an e-mail this morning from the USCIS.

APPROVED! YAY!

Before I get too excited, the e-mail that my wife recieved read

"On September 2, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

If you do not receive your document, please contact our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283."

Nowhere did it say ''approved'' so im being skeptical... Does this mean that she is approved and that we're OK to celebrate!?
