Hi guys!! First off, I just want to say thank you to VisaJourney for your wealth of information and for all your help throughout my husband's AOS process! Here's a quick timeline:

07/21/11 - sent AOS package (I-130, I-485, I-765)

07/26/11 - received NOA's through text, e-mail

07/26/11 - checks cashed

07/30/11- received official NOA's in the mail =)

08/05/11 - received biometrics appointment letter for Oakland, CA (sched for 8-29-11)

08/19/11 - successful walk-in biometrics! :)

08/31/11- text/email notice that interview notice was sent!

09/01/11 - received official interview notice for OCT 5, 2011 in San Francisco!!!

We are so thankful and amazed at how quick USCIS is processing everything for us, but we have one concern: no EAD card update! Is this normal to get the interview notice before any update on the EAD? Do you think the walk-in might have interfered with the flow? Have any other recent filers experienced this? It's awesome to have an interview scheduled so fast, but we have read it may take a while to get the green card upon approval. My hubby is very eager to get his SS# so he can work and drive...

Thanks for reading!

Sometimes people don't get the EAD it just happens.

Walk-in biometrics has nothing to do with it.

you can get a ss number now -also you can get dl now

You cannot get these items without an EAD or green card. The OP does not have a green card nor do they have an EAD.

If the I-94 is expired they also cannot get an ssn, not until they have the EAD or green card.

The OP will need to just wait until they have their interview and get their green card.

No, the OP cannot get a social security number with just the NOA1.

OP, you may not get an EAD before a green card. The purpose of the EAD is to allow you to work before you receive your GC because sometimes the wait for a GC can be several months. However, your process is going faster than normal so you may end up with your GC before you'd get an EAD or around the same time. Once you get your GC you won't need an EAD. Walk-in doesn't affect it at all.
