You would have to be travelling from Dublin directly to the US for CBP pre clearance. Dublin> Heathrow > US would not do CBP in Dublin.

why only certain airports offer this and others dont? Heathrow is much busier airport than dublin. It doesnt make sense.

Anyways its great to be able to do it and then not to have to worry about it. gud luck

I only know for Canada

Toronto pre-clears as do many MANY other Canadian airports because it allows them to fly to other/smaller airports. For example, it makes Delta airlines happy because they only have 1 international airport with 1 international gate in Atlanta (for example). If a Canadian pre-clears then it can technically fly into another gate that does not require customs and immigration, freeing up their international gate for those other flights. Also, it allows Delta to fly into Savannah from Toronto even through Savannah isn't an international airport - technically.

From a passenger point of view it is awesome. When I immigrated it was great, I flew into Atlanta and into the arms of my husband. I didn't have to wait 2 hours waiting to go through customs. Besides, when I was denied entry...both those times...I was denied in Toronto and was able to organize my flight without losing any money (*sigh* I should say a LOT of money) and have someone pick me up, instead of being detained in the US and waiting for the next flight home

US Customs preclearance is only available in certain countries because the US Government and the government of the host country have made arrangements. The US and UK have not made and do not appear likely to make any such arrangement.

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
