I suspect Fishdude's point, much as you might wish to ignore it, is that neither set of airport security personnel are doing this for security purposes.

Then, why didn't he say that. Like I said, Israel has been treated like a special case for too long. If they want to be a respected member of the world community of nations, they have to show that same respect to the citizens of that community of nations.

Huh ?

I never asked you to take sides, and I really don't care that you do.

Your remark is there for all to see (unless or until you get a mod to delete it.) But rather than either standing by it or retracting it, you try to claim you said something else entirely. Anyone can read the thread and see what you did.

Anyway, you cling to your theory that the reason behind the increased security must be "childish." I am asking you to debate your point. I have presented you with a good clue to one very real reason that Turkey may be screening Israelis with increased diligence. You choose to ignore it, you don't present any evidence to back your claims, and instead of debating, you continue with the ad hominem.

FAIL.

Your attitude is that I must take sides.

As to the rest, i seem to remember not ruling out the possibility that there are genuine concerns behind it. My view (of the whole situation) is that things like that are driven more by small mindedness, in that part of the world. That part of the world includes Israel.

I'm sorry my words don't pass your approval bill. I do however agree with what pooky wrote, if it makes any difference to you in clarifying what my views actually are.

????

Your imagination is very fertile... but I never said, insinuated or implied anything about wanting you to take sides.

As a matter of fact, my implication was that both Israel and Turkey have the right to determine their airport security.

Once again, your racist characterizations of the supposed mental traits of "that part of the world" are not helping your argument.

You've interpreted the comment that way, I've made it pretty clear its about the politics of international relations in the region.

Racist characterisation? On your bike lady.

Yes countries do indeed determine their security procedures, but i think we all know that what governments say they are motivated by is not the reality. This is where personal opinion comes into it. If one policy is brought in to retaliate for another (read: if) its a safe bet that there's something fishy going on.

I don't have a bike.

However that region of the world is full of childish attitudes and small mindedness, as indeed are the endless discussions on various topics about them on internet message boards.

My view (of the whole situation) is that things like that are driven more by small mindedness, in that part of the world. That part of the world includes Israel.

Characterizing the people of a region as sharing some inherent mental weakness is racism. And you've been called out on it.

Now you're making up lies. I shouldn't be surprised.

They are your words, 'Dude.

So far from you in this thread we have your claim that Turkey is being "childish" for heightening its airport security policy, and that Middle Eastern people in general are "childish" and "small-minded." And a bunch of insults. Nothing of substance. It seems you are not here to discuss, but just to throw poo.

I was going to quote T.E. Lawrence, but even that doesn't quite get the point across.

Please quote him anyway - this thread could use some representation from a Brit with experience and insight into the Middle East.

My words, your hyperbolic interpretation.

I'm afraid repeating the lie won't make it true.

"Just because I claimed that Middle Eastern people were mentally inferior does not mean I'm a racist, and you're a liar if you quote me or point it out as racist."

Whatever, 'Dude.

Men have looked upon the desert as barren land, the free holding of whoever chose; but in fact each hill and valley in it had a man who was its acknowledged owner and would quickly assert the right of his family or clan to it, against aggression.
