Another physical once stateside?

My fiancee had a physical in the UK, not cheap! She got the paperwork and is on the way through the process.

I checked and found she will need another shot that is not available in the UK. I called a civil surgeon here who wants almost $500 for the physical. I thought we did not need another physical if AOS was within the time frame of the physical from the UK. So, do we need another one while in the US too? They did say we can get our shots anywhere though.

When I called a couple of the places local they were going to require another physical even if you only needed the shots. The health department was listed as a choice for us and there they would do the shot and not require everything all over again. I would start calling all the civil surgeons listed in your area and see what they say.

You do not need another medical. It took me a LOT of calling around to finally find a Civil Surgeon who would actually give me a missing shot and transcribe my vaccinations without doing another full physical. Found one in the end and it cost me $50 for the transcribe and $20 for the shot if I remember correctly.

No, you need the shots, and ALSO to have the shots transcribed on form I-693 by a civil surgeon. USCIS will need that form. As stated above, it should only cost $20-$50, but you might have to call around to find a CS that will do it, because the K-1 scenario is more rare, and they might not understand. There is a "Civil Surgeons who don't rip you off" thread in the AOS forum with lists of CSs that will do the transcription.

Also suggest to NOT talk to the receptionist about it. They will probably only know that the doctor does an "immigration medical" and tell you the fee for that.

If you do not get all the required shots done at the London medical then you will need to have a CS transcribe the vaccinations onto the I-693 in the US.

Try the county health clinic in your area. We did this & I got 3 shots for 23 bucks. My daughter got 9 for free. A doctor wanted over 300 just for mine.

Yup, the County offers the best deal. I'll get the list of what shots are needed, get them from the County, and find a CS to do the documentation. Anyone done that?

Wherever you get the shots done, just make sure you get evidence to show the CS. I had a couple of shots done by the NHS for free and just got a printout from them. I also got them to stamp it and sign it.

Oh yes, we learned the lesson about documentation. My fiance lost her original records, has a big scar on her arm from the chickenpox shot, and they say that is not enough proof.

What I have been doing since the start here is scanning everything that we touch, and emailing it to myself so that if a copy is needed, it is safe in the cloud.

Normally a big scar on the arm from a shot is the smallpox vaccination which isn't on the list. What shot is she missing? Is it varicella? Did she have the chickenpox disease as a child?

Oh maybe that is smallpox, unless her doctor likes big needles. :-) Varicella is very expensive in the UK and almost free in the US. I don't know what she had as a kid, and even if I did we have no medical papers confirming it.
