So I had our interview on the 23rd in New York city. Everything went well (i think). The IO interviewed us was very nice. She asked some common questions, and all the ''no'' questions, then we showed her a whole binder of evidence. After the interview she kept the binder with all the evidence and pictures. The she said, i am going to recommend for approval, you should receive a notice in two weeks. Then she described about conditional GC, within three months before two years of our anniversary we can apply to remove condition. She took my I-94, but not EAD. I forgot ask her to stamp on my passport, even i did ask i am not sure she would do that. I asked her if i don't get anything after two weeks should I follow up? she said, don't follow up unless we don't hear anything for 2 months.

I am not sure about what she meant by recommend for approval. I know a lot of people are approved on site, why she didn't approve me right away? Does she need to talk to her supervisor or something? or background check? (i thought they do that before the interview). I am just trying to figure out what she has to do before officially approve my case? It has been a week i still haven't received anything, and my online status doesn't change either...i am a little worried

Your not approved but you have been recommended to be approved, Someone else reviews the case before its approved.

No one here knows why she didn't approve you right away, only she knows why.

Thanks for replying! I thought when she said recommend for approval at least it's a good sign, maybe she doesn't have authority to approve me without her supervisor's permission. But I have not heard back for anything for more than a week...I wonder does this happen to a lot of people?

Hi gc012,

Mine also same story. You can read my story at "AOS interview at Federal Plaza-No decission" in this forum.

The guy gave me a printed letter which say "required further review" and said you will receive a decission in 60 days. He write "I-485 pending review" in my passport.

He also said if you don't hear from us within 60 days then take info pass and come here.

He kept my I-94 and couple of pictures and photocopies of all documents. Till now the status doesn't change.

I crossed my fingers and waiting.

Hi, I read some posts with interview experiences in new york. It's common that IOs don't make decisions on site. A lot of people got response that they will get decision by mail in 60 days, but usually it doesn't take that long. 3 weeks is average, sometimes people waited for two months(then you make infor pass). So I guess we just need to be patient, and don't worry about it for now. Plus, it's holiday season, a lot of IOs take vacations in Aug. so i guess the process is slow. I wouldn't be worried for now. Let's wait for at least three weeks before get worried, I'll keep you update my status. Good luck to both of us!
