LOL!!! what could someone actually do with it anyways? besides look at the status.

The consulate was very helpful. All I had to do was give them that number and a few details I got from your website and just like that, the case has been cancelled.

Congrats!! Hop up here on the bus as we head off for the trials and tribulations of the HCMC consulate. It looked normal enough from the outside as I walked by last week. But we all know how looks can be deceiving.

If you plan to take the picture of any US consulate in the world, make sure you call the DHS and Anti-terrorist division to inform them that you have no intention of "surveying" US Government buildings in foreignland for any ill will! Just want to start a database of buildings and infurstructures of US Gov. and State Department in Vietnam and other countries. See how well that goes with them!

Don't do it man!

Personal experience, I was in Ha Noi for business in 2004. The company I was working with at the time, its headquarter is right accross from the US EMBASSY, not consulate. Guess what I did, I took my Video camera and photo camera out, start taping and taking pictures of it... "Thinking... this is cool... my flag, my country, my embassy in a foreignland, let's take pictures and tape it to show friends back home" Very bad Idea! The security team crossed the street and approached me and request to see my ID/Passport, why was I taping and taking picture of the Embassy building? They wanted me to come in for some question. I told them, why do you need me to come in for questioning? Is there a rule or law not allow people to take pictures of building in public place? I am an american and it is within my right to take pictures and photos where it allows. The security guards said the is a sign that says "no photos, no video taping" on the front of the US Embassy. GREAT, at that time, they also have another security guard was taping me from the front door of the Embassy. It was a big security ####### that day! I ended up have to delete the digital photos from my digital camera to make them feel better.

Oh yes, never a good idea to try and take pics of embassys around the world. I can't think of any country that will not freak out. In many places they have signs all over the showing no photos allowed.

Maybe a photo of the HCMC consulate from the corner of Hai Ba Trung would be safe. :)

I'm back in the states now. Had to reroute my return trip to FL instead of home to MA for work purposes. A great first impression for my new franchisee....28 hour trip jetlag. Though everyone did enjoy the pics from our Dam Hoi. hahahaha
