My fiancée had her interview today but we didn’t any luck. She didn’t get approved or disapproved. She was asked only a couple of questions, how we met, when we met, etc. Both of us have been married before and she was asked if my ex-wife was US citizen and if she got her green card through me, which she did. My fiancée was completely honest and she told them the truth. These were all the questions she was asked. Then the interviewer told my fiancée that she forgot a form, I think it was the DS-156 form, which she was told earlier by their help line that she didn’t need it. They told her that she needed to send this form by mail and then she was going to be notified of a decision. They kept her passport and some other documentation. Now we are terrified that she will not get approved due to my previous marriage and that my ex-wife got her green card through me. I just would like to know if there is someone who has gone through the same situation and what the outcome was. Also, can they deny her visa based on my previous marriage and that my ex-wife got her green card through me? Please advise. We are really terrified that they wouldn’t approve her visa only because of my past marriage. Just in case someone is wondering, There was no fraud whatsoever in my past marriage, this is life and it just didn’t work out as many others.

Thank you all for your input.

NO No and No. Just send in the 156 and you will be right. They will not process it without all the forms being in order. They kept her passport yes? SO just need the 156 and she will get the passport back with visa in it. When I wwnt for my interview my husband had been married 3 times before and they were missing one divorce decree and would not give me visa till they had that. Once they received it I got visa right away.

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

They kept her passport and some other documentation. This is a very good sign. My wife had to do the same, more relationship evidence and within two days after receiving it, they approved the visas.

Now we are terrified that she will not get approved due to my previous marriage and that my ex-wife got her green card through me.

Nope, not an issue and no relation to your case. Stop worrying.

I just would like to know if there is someone who has gone through the same situation and what the outcome was. Approved.

Also, can they deny her visa based on my previous marriage and that my ex-wife got her green card through me?

NO, they can deny due to her being a terrorist or not believing you have a legitimate relationship.

Please advise. We are really terrified that they wouldn’t approve her visa only because of my past marriage. Just in case someone is wondering, There was no fraud whatsoever in my past marriage, this is life and it just didn’t work out as many others.

Both of us were previously married, presented the proper divorce documents with translation for hers and we were approved.

Thank you all for your input. She just forget a form. Send that in, also send it via email and you'll get approved.

You really should have posted this in the RUB regional forum since at the interview stage, every Embassy is different. My comments in bold above. You're fine.

Thank you for your replies. We are just concerned because this officer was really rude and impolite with my fiancee that she didnt even ask for any documents or evidence. She didnt even ask for the DHL receipt and this is a problem. This officer seemed not interested at all in what she was saying, totally rude.

I understand your concern, but I don't think she would be denied just because you had a previous wife who received a green card through you. All they are concerned with is:

1. Whether your relationship with your current fiance is legitimate.

2. Whether you can provide for her financially.

3. Whether she is a security threat to the USA.

That's pretty much it. The interview itself can seem very intimidating just because you have so much on the line. Try not to worry too much. Have her send in the forms as soon as she can. Keep us posted. :)
