no, chidren aren't derivates on parent petitions. siblings are filed separatly. so he cannot come with his mom. citizenship comes after 5 years of being a LPR.

when she comes, if the son is unmarried she can file for him, but it will take over 8 years. if she doesn't work she will need a joint sponsor.

no, the joint sponsor has to be a USC or LPR in the US who pays taxes. just like her son or daughter who will file for her.

who will petition for her in the first place?

Be prepared to show health insurance for your mother, It can be VERY expensive for an older person ,and if she has medical conditions it will be even more. ALso be aware that she will NOT collect social security as she hasn't put into the system.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

that is because she is older , she could not work she could not have social security number.

thanks

The point being made is that your mom will not be eligible for much in government assistance so you will have to obtain health insurance for her. That can be expensive to purchase.

Sure you can petition for your 77 year-old mom. However, in cases like this, the Affidavit of Support will become secondary evidence as the US government will want to make sure that your mom will never become a public charge. Keep in mind she will never be eligible for Medicare.

Can you afford to pay $80,000.00 for your mom's health insurance per year? Wow! High? A simple heart attack will cost OVER $100K, so it's actually pretty reasonable.

Forget it, even if you were willing to risk bankcruptcy and losing everything to worked for your entire life. Don't get her exited only to disappoint her later on.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Just curious how you arrived at the $80,000 per year insurance cost?
