I see, so legal gun owners are going to just shoot up the place because they got fired?

Yup, this happens each and every day.

You'd be surprised how many people carry guns in their glove box.

So are you denying that it would happen? Actually, I don't think I would be surprised how many people carry guns in their glove box, I see the stats on it almost every day.

lets see ... there are about 100 cars in the parking lot at this moment ... i'd easily expect +30% to have a firearm.

My company has a strict "no firearm" policy. They reserve the right to inspect any employee vehicle and will fire them if they resist. They will also fire terminate their employment if they find a single casing or bullet or anything firearm related in the car. They can do so because they have an "At will" employment policy. And more over, it is detailed in the employee handbook and the contract every employee has to sign.

All it takes is one worker with a gun to go postal which will make them liable in the tune of millions. So they wont risk it.

the policy may just have been altered effective today unless you employer meets the exemption rules ....

What is a few dozen deaths compared to the rights of all Texans to carry a gun anywhere they damn well please?

So every time someone gets fired in Texas, everyone is going to walk out to their cars to make sure that the terminated employee doesn't come back?

If you're crazy enough to come back with a gun and shoot your former co-workers, does it make a difference whether or not you have to go home to get the gun? Hence the problem with gun regulations. The crazy's and criminals aren't deterred.

I understand the rationale behind the law, I just don't agree with allowing animals to be shot from a helicopter/airplane. They could have opened up hunting season on them year round and had the same effect.

I think part of this is because hunting feral hogs is actually rather dangerous. The helicopter keeps you well out of reach. You're right, a longer season could have a similar effect, but if we've established that they're a problem and there are people willing to put up the money to run helicopters, what's wrong with allowing helicopter hunting?

Nope, HR didn't send out a memo or anything. However they just fired 2 guys from the shop for rough-housing and cussing at each other.. apparently the F-word is not allowed :help: They are that ####### about workplace violence.

need to check with HR here today because i have lots of visitors in this facility. before today there was a requirement to inform the non-permitted (which included parking lot). since SB 321 is effective today we may need to modify to be in compliance with state law.

for some reason i see a conversation with corporate legal happening today ...

What about those who in the heat of the moment pick up the gun, because it is in their glove box. How many of them would actually cool down on a drive home and would not return? This is an issue where lives could be at stake, not something trivial.

How would helicopters aid in culling the wild boar population where opening up a year round hunting season would not? All it does is enable the fat and lazy people to shoot at things. Sorry, but if you're not qualified to use a firearm and hunt, then you shouldn't be firing the gun in the first place.
