We had actually once talked about the same idea, but were later informed that the NVC and CSC did not look kindly on that.(our congressperson). So we have stuck with our process. It seems to panning out. The waiting is the hardest part.

K-3 Visa

Service Center : California Service Center

Consulate : Montreal, Canada

Marriage : 2002-09-28

I-130 Sent : 2004-06-01

I-130 NOA1 : 2004-06-29

Re-entry to U.S. Denied:2005-12-31

I-130 Approval : 2006-03-09

NVC Received : 2006-05-02

Your I-130 was approved in 646 days.

NVC Packet complete 2006-09-14

Interview : 2006-11-01

Visa: 2006-11-02

POE: 2006-11-02

Arrived at home: 2006-11-04

Welcome Letter: 2006-11-24

Hi everyone: just have a question im trying to help someone and they asked me they are married newly weds and they feel that the K-3 process is taking so long and they were told if they get divorced the can reapply for the K-1 which they were told is much faster im not sure what to say to them any feedback that could help me explain more to them would be appreciated they are now waiting for the NOA 2 for the I-130 which i believe will come soon I'm at a loss of what to say to them

The Immigration process is not a game. One has to disclose all previous marriages and they will see it clearly that they were married, now divorced, now engaged again. If they want to jeopardize the process, then they can go to this route. If they want to be together, sometimes a little patience will be rewarding.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
