We filed my wife's AOS on 3/21/11 with an NOA1 date of 4/1.. Biometrics were on 5/12, EAD/AP were received on 5/19. On 8/1, or 4 months from NOA1, we noticed an error in my wife's A# on the I-485 form. An RFE was never issued for the error. We called USCIS and corrected it that day and also made an InfoPASS appointment for 8/17. At that appt., they said the A# had been fixed in the system and the next day we received a letter dated 8/12 confirming it had been changed via the call to USCIS...

Now, for the question....

Given the late correction to the AOS application, at what point is it now considered to be "outside normal processing"? The website says it's 4 months from NOA1 for our location but the lady from the InfoPASS at the local USCIS office said they are taking 6 months. I'll take her word over the website since she's actually there but we are now at the end of 5 months without an interview date on the horizon. If we haven't heard anything by the end of 6 months, can we ask our Congressman's office to get involved or does the clock reset based on the A# being corrected on 8/1 (confirmed on 8/12)?

Yeah, I don't know what date they're working on in Orlando but if they say 6 months, I'll believe it's 6 months. The strange thing is I was under the impression that (K-1) cases were transferred to CSC when local offices were backed up "for faster processing". The USCIS website was showing a date (approx. 6 months) when we filed but changed to "4 months" in June. My only question/fear is that 2 weeks ago she said we should already have or should receive an interview date "very soon" and we've still heard nothing. Add in the unknown factor of updating the A# at the 4-month mark and who knows? Although, I wouldn't think it should cause too much trouble/delay since it wasn't even severe enough to trigger an RFE before we finally saw it ourselves.

I just have this sinking feeling that either the AOS package or her brown envelope from POE are sitting in an unknown location/lost and are not physically together in the same office. For now, we wait but I want to be ready for the next step if it continues beyond 6 months without news of at least an interview date.

Good luck to you too! Hope you receive some news soon.
