For a beneficiary in Pakistan is it necessary to complete both I-134 and I-864 as part of Packet 3? Or does I-134 (affidavit of support) alone suffice?

thanks for your replies in advance.

idk what your filing for your info doesnt say you may need to update and put that info in so that its easier to answer your questions.

In the meantime i can tell you that the i 134 is for the k1 fiance visa and the i 864 is for the cr1/ir1 visa.

Idk if they both came in the packet you were sent but if they did i would guess you need to fill them both out. The reason for that would be that while they use the i134 for k1 to get your fiance here and marry they also know you wil be adjusting status prety soon thereafter so they actually look toward the i 864 info to be sure you can support the beneficiary.

If they did not both come in your packet then fill out only the i 134 and understand that they may go by the 125% poverty guideline rather than the 100%poverty guideline.........

good luck

i'm filing for K-1 fiancé visa.

I tried updating my profile, but for some reason it didn't work, i'll try again

thanks for the helpful info, so it seems like all we will have to submit as part of packet 3 or at interview is I-134.

Yes but be prepared that they make not look at your 100% above poverty line as being enough it may be they still need to see 125% because a couple of months after the arrival and marriage you will be adjusting which requires 125% above

You can ask for help with the mods if you can't get the profile updated ;) good luck

Hi Havehope! :)

Here is what this site suggests:

Packet 3 Contains: Specifying the documents needed and actions that must be taken by the beneficiary and the petitioner prior to issuance of a visa.

Packet 3.5 for K1 Visas (for Afghans) Requests These Documents:

Cover Letter

Passport Photos 2"x2" (2 in addition to the ones attached to DS-156s)

Copy of National ID Translation

DS-156 (2 copies, EVAF, w/ original passport photo attached)

DS-156K (1 copy)

DS-230 part I & II (1 copy)

Parental Information Form

I-134 Affidavit of Support w/ Supporting Financial Docs from Petitioner> optional .

Dont need to fill all forms for k1 just fill out DS- 160 online and need to email the comformation to the embassy .

**Note: Police Cert for Afghans is NOT required unless they lived in another country after age 16 for more than 6 months.

Includes These for Benefit of Applicant:

Medical contact information

Vaccination requirements

Picture requirements

All forms included with exception of DS-156 which must be completed and printed offline. Web address given in packet.

For me, I am also filing for a K-1 and I plan to include everything that they are recommending on this list. Even though it says this: "Dont need to fill all forms for k1 just fill out DS- 160 online and need to email the comformation to the embassy." If they don't end up needing it, then OK. BUT I will kick myself if they end up needing something that I decided not to include. My rule of thumb is too much informaiton is better than not enough! :) Please make note that I have NOT YET gone thru this process so I am not 100% sure what is exacly in the Packet 3 but atleast this gives you a very good idea.

Good Luck! I hope to be doing the same thing you are doing very soon! :)

Best,

Worth the wait and EAbbas,

I agree, better to be overly prepared than caught off guard.

I pray that you and your fiancé get your NOA2 approval soon, seems like you were just behind in terms of NOA1 date by about 1 week! EAbbas I pray that the AP is concluded fast!

I'll keep everyone posted about how the process transpires from here forward.

Best wishes,

Have Hope

Question for you Havehope,

Did the USCIS website where you check your petition's status ever update your status from Acceptance to any of the other status? I am obsessed with that site and checking my status but nothing ever seems to change!!!

Thanks,

yes he will be filing the i134 for his k1 visa but islamabad is very strict with income and its touchy for them to accept assets for some ppl thats why i was telling him to be prepared to show good income (preferably as close to 125% as possible even tho he only needs 100% for k1 visa) especially since he will be filing aos after marriage so they will be looking at the long term as well

Worth the wait,

As soon as I got the text message stating my I-129F was approved, I logged onto the USCIS account and it also changed from acceptance to approved.

Make sure you are signed up for text message alerts, you will know instantaneously when you are approved!

Hang in there worth the wait!

Best wishes,

Havehope
