Is F.M. still the favorite recent President of the Philippines?

Marie says actually like 2000 pairs or more. You should go visit the Malacanang Palace museum and see the shoes on display there. Marie calls all affairs of state, "Fashion Gala's" and PGMA was one of the most extravagant, wearing famous designer gowns everywhere she goes.

Bill, Marie is entitled to her own persuasion. However, I have been to Malacañan several times but I ain't seen any shoes on display. BTW, kindly extend my regards to Marie.

I'm a fan of Ferdinand Marcos. I think he is the most intelligent president the Philippines has ever had.

And, may I append that the second best president would be another gentleman from the Solid North - Elpidio Quirino. You might argue that I am a little biased because I am a G.I., but there were other presidents of Ilocano heritage, e.g., Magsaysay and Ramos, who were never as brilliant as FEM and EQ.

Marie went to school nearby, and was visiting the palace almost weekly. Perhaps you were not as interested in women's footwear as she was. :P

The 1500 some odd pairs of shoes were not discovered until 1986 (when Marie was 14), and I guess the collection is now on display at Marikina.

Yeah, The University of Manila, along with my alma mater (The University of the East), are just a few kilometers from Malacañan. You are right, I was never interested in women's footwear; I was only interested in those señoritas, especially those who could pass for Capitan Tiago's daughter (Maria Clara), who were in them shoes!

I agree  He topped the bar exams during his time. And in fairness to Imelda Marcos, she's the most elegant first lady in history.

Not sure why you guys support a communist Dictator, who stole all the money from the philippines and used it to lavish themselves in extremes (such as thousands of pairs of shoes) this doesn't make a person amazing or elegant, this makes them insane.

I wasnt here during the time of Marcos but i can't imagine the power people happened for no reason.

Who told you that? He fought the Communist insurgency in the Philippines. History accuses him of being a Fascist, but never has anyone but you referred to him as a Communist. The so-called land reforms came from Aquino, not Marcos.

The Filipinos were very disciplined during his regime. Yes, they may have lived lavish lifestyle, but they helped build many schools and other establishments that somehow helped the country (yun lang by borrowing so much money). He had good infrastructure and economic programs (they wanted everything done FAST) and the crime rate went dowwwwn (for the civilians).

More media men were killed during Arroyo's administration than Marcos'! :crying:

He (or should I say she) may be crazy, but they are not the worst.
