I hate to say this, but it seems every 3 out of 5 people that undergo an xray during their medical on this clinic had undergone sputum test, even if they did a prior xray, and it checks out ok, no scarring no dots no issues, when they do the xray at st luke's they starts to find scarring,I am not saying they are wrong, but something smells fishy....like for example, this guy I know, clean living, he's a seaman, they always have medical every quarter of the year, and he always given a clean bill of health, he and his family about to migrate to the usa, and did the medical at st luke's and voila, they seen scarring on his xray's, he's so frustated about the result as to what happened and how,and he could not complain as this is the only clinic being recognize by the embassy,so I ask you guys to share your opinion and experiences with regards to this...

You already have your answer right there.

thats my point, do we need to just swallow whatever they say? as far as I am concerned, looks like this clinic has a big sign outside that says, "business as usual".. if you know what I mean...

No, storm the gates and slaughter the infidels!

I never understood this Filipino angst about authority. Seriously.

Uh, do you want your visa? If you do, then yes, you need to swallow whatever they say. Until the United States Embassy Manila deems another clinic/hospital meets U.S. standards, you really have no choice.

Much easier to just go with the flow.

Waiting for visa day is difficult enough by itself. Adding on another two months of waiting is pure h*ll.

Chinook was a registered nurse in the Philippines. Now she's a registered nurse here in the States. She saw many x-ray machines in hospitals and clinics in Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. She commented to me that the x-ray machine at St. Lukes was the most modern one she saw in the Philippines.

Also, the x-rays at St. Lukes are looked at by a pulmonologist. This is not necessarily true at other clinics.

These factors may have something to do with the rate of abnormalities seen in x-rays at St. Lukes.

Hang in there. Your day will come.

Believe me, I did not want to... but I had to.

I've had two clear x-rays prior to my medical and yet, I was still put on a dreaded sputum test. We even tried to "pursuade" ;) the head nurse and doctors but to no avail. :(

You can bring it with you but regardless of it's result, St. Luke's will still have the final say.

My wife had an X-ray before going to do her medical and it showed nothing. But it did ease her mind a great deal so it was worth it even though St. Lukes would not accept it.

Her X-ray that was done at St. Lukes also was clear.

She passed her medical with no issues.

Unfortunately, St. Lukes has the final say and all you can do is bend over and say, May I have another please?

I agree. I've seen many xray machines in different hospitals and their x-ray machine at St Luke's was top of the line. I was nervous about it too but when I saw that machine I was amazed. People can't really do anything about it if they want us to undergo the sputum test.
