My husband US citizen petitioned for his mother to get her GC. She was already in the US and had overstayed. Anyway, everything has progressed smoothly for her. She was notified that she has an interview at the end of September. She is in NY and we live in KY since he is active duty. Will he have to be present for the interview? Will his absence be a hindrance? I'd appreciate any help. Thank you!

Tell her to scan the interview notice and send it to him. Look over the notice carefully and see if the petitioner is requested to attend the interview. USCIS field offices usually prefer that the petitioner attend unless the applicant is self-petitioning (asylum, VAWA, etc.).
