Hello,

So I have my Affidavit of Support (with all supporting documents) dated from last week of June. I think my bank letter is June 23rd, my job letter is June 25th, the affidavit of support notarized for June 26th, and my pay stubs from previous 2 pay periods from May 2011 to June 15th 2011. We are still waiting on the interview date, which I think may be end of September. Would those documents still be valid or should I obtain a current bank letter and notarized I-134? Any past experiences? How long are the documents considered valid?

Thanks.

I had the same problem, sent everything too early (optimism). Does your embassy require that the I-134 be notarized? Mine wasn't notarized and was accepted. I chose to resend the I-134 express delivery because the form revision had actually changed. I did not re-send the employment letter or bank statement as they were only three months old. If you re-send one though you can just as easily re-send them all. I also updated the letter of intent.

You might want to consider updating everything.

Good luck!

Yes I was very optimistic that the process would go quicker, but it didn't. I just bought a house, so I can't really update my bank letter, shows low funds, as far as job letter, last pay stubs, and notarized I-134, I guess I can resend those. Would having a bank letter dated June 24th, be problem if everything else is current? Thanks for the reply :)

No worries. There aren't any hard and fast rule about when the supporting documents should be dated. Update what you can. Are you sure your I-134 has to be notarized? I've not heard of that before.

Hello, thanks for the advice :)

And to answer your question,

Yes, the I-134 does need to be notarized as per New Delhi Consulate website:

Affodavit of Support:

Note: Only U.S. consular officers, DHS officers and U.S. notaries are authorized to notarize form I-134.

Each visa applicant needs to satisfy the consular officer that he/she will not become a public charge. The petitioner must provide a notarized affidavit of support (form I-134), form 1040 and W2 for the most recent taxable year and proof of U.S. citizenship. If the petitioner’s income is not sufficient the applicant MUST submit the above documents from the petitioner along with the same documents from an additional sponsor willing to assume financial responsibility for the visa applicant. See the paragraph below for details regarding these documents.

I guess it just depends on the consulate.
