Those are my two favourite cities.

Atlanta has time weightage (5.5 of my first seven years in US, lived in Atlanta area) where Dallas has better restaurants (much better Mexican food than Atlanta; also excellent South-Indian including Pasand on Beltline Rd). Till June of this year, another favourable point of Dallas was the easy availability of nonstop flights to Calgary (Delta started such from June).

My third favourite city is Memphis, which has improved since 1996 in the Indian restaurants department (1996 two IDENTICAL North-Indian restaurants for entire Shelby County; 2004 FIVE including one SOUTH-Indian).

I took Pras on a visit to Atlanta area for July 1-3 weekend, and she complained that she was "not welcomed as warmly in Marietta as in DC"--so her favourite cities are DC-Baltimore at current.

2005/07/10 I-129F filed for Pras

2005/11/07 I-129F approved, forwarded to NVC--to Chennai Consulate 2005/11/14

2005/12/02 Packet-3 received from Chennai

2005/12/21 Visa Interview Date

2006/04/04 Pras' entry into US at DTW

2006/04/15 Church Wedding at Novi (Detroit suburb), MI

2006/05/01 AOS Packet (I-485/I-131/I-765) filed at Chicago

2006/08/23 AP and EAD approved. Two down, 1.5 to go

2006/10/13 Pras' I-485 interview--APPROVED!

2006/10/27 Pras' conditional GC arrives -- .5 to go (2 yrs to Conditions Removal)

2008/07/21 I-751 (conditions removal) filed

2008/08/22 I-751 biometrics completed

2009/06/18 I-751 approved

2009/07/03 10-year GC received; last 0.5 done!

2009/07/23 Pras files N-400

2009/11/16 My 46TH birthday, Pras N-400 approved

2010/03/18 Pras' swear-in

This really depends on what you want. So many places offer different things. I have to say I lived in Washington DC for 3 years and absolutely loved it. If all of my family and friends would have moved there I would have stayed.

The town I live in now is a University town (big 10) and while it is not Washington DC I have come to like it and accept what it has to offer.

My fiance is Russian and comes from a very large city. I have been very upfront about just how small this town is and she seems fine with that, of course only time will tell.

Dallas is the best; job market is good, salaries are good, cost of living is dirt cheap, and the suburbs are very safe.

I would tell the you best place but then too many people would move here and ruin it and then it wouldn't be the best place anymore. :P

Please don't say 'Austin,' cos it's too late; it's been ruined since the 1990s.
