I-751 September 2011 Filers

We got a letter dated Aug 22 from Sen. Isakson's office that included a print-out of an email from a nameless USCIS employee. The email said that our file had been pulled from the shelf and a decision would be made on it within 30 days. Where have I heard that one before?

Just received an interesting letter from USCIS. It reads:

"The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required security checks remain pending.

Until the security checks have been completed, we cannot move forward on your case. These security checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact us by calling our customer service number provided below."

Gosh, I did not have a clue I was such a high security risk!!! Who would have thought !!! Another 6 months wait? Have I not waited long enough already?

So, John&Mary, your additional 30 days wait seems not so bad after all ...

It seems I was right to have said that they've put my application with February 2012 filers following my change of address saga.

Another interesting thing about this letter is that they've used my initial EAC # that is on the original letter and not biometrics EAC#. When I type that number in their case search nothing comes up, not even that the application has been submitted. I can just see this dragging on, and on, and on.

UGH, Kat & A. Why do I have a sinking feeling that we'll be receiving the same letter? Did you ever have your husband contact your senator? If so, what did the senator's liaison say?

Not yet but I'll get him to contact a senator. It would be interesting to find out what reply they'll receive from USCIS...

I really, really hope you don't get the same letter. It's entertaing, infuriating, frustrating,even hilarious all at the same time. Utterly unbelievable...

Unfortunately, I don't know if we received that letter because our postal carrier just randomly decided to put a hold on our mail for a week because our house was vacant. We are trying to get our mail back but we're not sure if we've gotten it all. Flicker and KAT&A, is there any indication on the USCIS website that your file was "touched" or anything?

No touches or any indication on their website at all. But I did fax consent to the Senator on Friday. Let's see if that produces any results At this point anything seems better than additional 6 months wait.

So this morning I went down to my local service center as I had made an infopass appointment to have my passport stamped with a I-551 because my 12 month status extension is to expire in two days time. When my number was called I went up to the IO who checked my papers etc and looked at his computer screen and said " I have some good news and some not so good news ! " OooKkkk .... He said that our ROC had been approved last Thursday but it hadn't been mailed yet !!! yipppeeee !!!! and he still gave me a 3 month I-551 to cover me in the interim while my card is mailed.

The "case status online" still hasn't been updated LOL what a great morning it has been

Well, we didn't receive the dreaded "security checks" letter yet, but we did get a letter regarding the service request we filed on August 20. It said "Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter." We liked what they told Sen. Isakson's office better (30 days).

Anyway, the postscript on the letter said that we are required BY LAW to change our address within 10 days of moving. We did not realize it was 10 days, so we, with much gnashing of teeth, filed our change of address online. Of course halfway through we realized that our browser was incompatible, and then learned that all Mac-compatible browsers are incompatible, and it only works with IE. So after cranking up an ancient Toshiba we had in a box in the closet, we started all over again and refiled the online AR-11 to change our address. Then we realized that it will let you change your address for the I-751, but not the CR189. So we called USCIS (It's been an awesome Tuesday night around here!) and the customer service representative told us that we didn't need to call and that we didn't need to change the address on the CR189. (My guess is that this is why so many address changes fail at USCIS. The CR189 doesn't know what the I-751 is doing. That's a guess.)

We're buckling our seatbelts. No six-month letter for us yet, but my guess is that this bureaucratic nightmare is far from over for us, too.

Ye Gods. 1 year now for Sept. people. Hope this all ends soon for everyone.

My wife begins citizenship classes tomorrow but probably doesn't know English well enough yet. But it is a begining.

I think I will begin using Citizenship column on Visa Journey when I need that.

i check status every day on the uscis website,,so far ,, no changes,,,,u hear about these things but u never think they will happen to u,,,it will all work out eventually,,hang in there !!!!!
