Quota on fiancee' visas?

My fiancee' is saying that they are slowing down approvals of visas in the Philippines. I could see this in terms of visa for nursing but not fiancee' visas. Does anyone have any information?

Perhaps they mean there is a backlog / queue to get your interview with the embassy. I don't believe they could deny a couple because they have already had enough fiances in one year.

I'm sure someone with a Filipina fiance can answer your question better though! Take it away....Sheriff Uling!!

For a visa like this there is a rationale behind having no quota. It is a visa provided on behalf of a USC and should not be limited or denied as long as the petitioner meets the criteria. Many government programs set a criteria and all persons meeting that criteria will be granted the service/access to the program. In govt terms we refer to this as "uncontrollable" rather than controlled policy.

In other words since this is a petition on behalf of a citizen, it is treated differently than other immigrant visas.

i've never seen or heard of a qouta on fiance or spousal visas for a US Citizen. long wait in Manila is coz of the large number of visas being processed there.
