Hi, I just sent out my AOS package today and didn't see a section requesting an email address on any of my forms. I mailed all of them together, as instructed by the immigration officer at my InfoPass interview. I sent the I-485, I-765, I-130, I-693, I-864 and G-325A forms together to the Chicago lockbox. I keep seeing on people's timelines "RFE by email" or "touched"...

So I'm wondering... 1st how/where did you provide your email address? And what is "touching" or being touched? Probably silly questions, but figured I'd ask anyways :)

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so I see that when you get a NOA, you can start tracking your case online on the uscis website. Think that sums it up and I've answered my own question. :)

Hello:

There's never such a thing as a silly question. As a fairly new petitioner for a fiancee visa, let me try to explain what I understand of the different processes, etc.

When you send in an application of any sort to the USCIS, you get an acknowledgement from USCIS with a receipt number. As a petitioner, you can then register on the USCIS website at https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp. Click the link to "Create/Edit customer portfolio account" for new accounts. Fill in the required information. Activate email notification on the screens that follow, and voila, you are set. I just set up my account and got an email acknowledgment from USCIS.

Everytime, there is some action on your case (touching) - then you are notified of the kind of action taken, etc.

Hope that helps. All the best. :-)
