Hello everyone. Last year I was a depressed law student who was slowly losing her mind. I don't think I was ready for law school but that's another story for another time. One day while in my contracts class, I was browsing facebook and saw a status that read "Anyone interested in going to West Africa to teach? My friend is opening a school in Senegal and is looking for teachers. Please let me know if you are interested!!" This immediately caught my attention and I decided to go. I later found out that I would be teaching at an Islamic Bilingual school in Dakar, Senegal. I am a Baptist American who did not speak English but I told myself if God takes me to the other side of the world, I'm supposed to be there.

When I arrived in Senegal, I lived in the school and worked everyday. Mosquitos attacked my face and I was sick from the water. I prayed and asked God to send someone to help me while I was there because I really wanted to go home. He gave me a man.

I met an American who attended Suffolk University and he told me he wanted me to meet his friend. He told me this guy was a model and cultural promoter around West Africa. He introduced me to his friend and the rest was history! I knew I wanted to marry this man when he took me to the Grand Mosque in Touba, Senegal. When the men and women split to pray, I asked him what I was supposed to do. He said "uh, pray...." and I told him I didn't know how to pray. He said "You pray everyday. Pray like you know. If you have to pray in Jesus' name, do that but just go pray for us." My father has taken me to church but he has never taken me to pray. This man is perfect for me. I love him because he is an elegant soul and he'll be a great provider to our children. I have always been interested in traveling to West Africa as an African American and I found the love of my life while I was there. God is good.

I haven't started the visa process because I am looking for work in the US. Once I find work, I am going to fill out the application and pay the fees. I appreciate any help and/or words of encouragement that you offer during this time.
