Okay I'll admit..maybe I call DOS too many times a day...but it makes me feel better and I also think maybe, just maybe..I will get someone who is willing to help me and give me a little extra information that we ALL KNOW they have access too....Well, I gets this one lady right at their 5:00 time...I give her my case number and her response was " why do you keep calling so much. Nothing is going to change within an hour"

Needless to say I was shocked and hurt all the same time...she puts me on hold, as if she is really looking, and when I proceed to tell her why I call back so much she has already hung up on me...No thank you for calling, have a nice day...nothing....

IF I want to call every minute of every hour they are open I CAN!!! I paid for this process, it is MY right to get some information on what is happening with our case!

This is not fair to be treated this way....especially when we pay this kind of money...we are being tortured as is with being separated from our loved ones...now we have to be abused by the people here working for US?!?!?!

I also honestly think you shouldn't call so much?? If you have nothing to worry about...that is! We ALL pay high fees to the immigration and there are thousands of other people and other cases pending i don't think because you paid you should be treated any differently.

She probably answers the phone all day deals with all kind of people and calling all day is just going to make yourself look stalkerish if i was you i definitely would just chill.

Good luck

And don't have them denying your case because of your suspect all day long calls maybe that will have them think you are hiding something lol

Well, I know we dont have anything to hide....It's just me being impatient hoping for ANY information as to where we are in this "black hole" we are in....I HATE to think, and I am already crying thinking about it...that I just got him denied because I called. When you get one person telling you he is denied...and you call back an hour later and get a totally different response....it's no wonder why I keep calling..I just want a straight answer!

I also honestly think you shouldn't call so much?? If you have nothing to worry about...that is! We ALL pay high fees to the immigration and there are thousands of other people and other cases pending i don't think because you paid you should be treated any differently.

I'm not saying because I PAID...it is a general saying...We all paid, so in a way we are all entitled to some answers. Not to be treated like trash...And also I do have something to WORRY about...the fact he is NOT here with me and not KNOWING when he will be...

What you are explaining here does not sound like abuse. Try your best to be patient in a stressful situation.

The person answering the phone is not a decision maker. Imagine how many overly stressed people they speak to in a work day. How would you (honestly) perform in that position?

You are right...It just took me by surprise that she said something to me....I'm glad that they are not decision makers..I wouldn't want her to do something to our case just because she was tired of hearing my voice today! hahhahaha

I'll just stop calling them for awhile....since there is nothing they can help me with anyways

Try to limit your calls. I called every Friday for months to make me feel better, but really they can't tell you much except, Yes he is still in AP. Trust me their computers don't update by the minute, more like they update by the week (or month maybe, this is the US government). By calling once a week I felt better but didn't pester them too much.

How did they know you call all day long, because it is documented into their system. Evey phone call is documented. If you become a bother, they will block your calls.

When in AP people handle calls differently. I call once a week and my friend calls once a month. There is no point in calling everyday.

I agree with you on the frequent calling. Multiple calls within the hour is definitely excessive. Ease of to once every two or even three weeks.

I disagree on the reasoning behind the DOS lady's rude comments. At the end of the day, she is getting paid to do a job and that is to answer the phone calls and assist the caller with whatever they are inquiring about. I think she's lacking greatly in professionalism and in understanding the complete concept of customer service. Even if she wanted to tell you that statuses don't change that frequently and etc. there was a professional way to go about it.

She could have said, "The status of the case is .... please feel free to call back after 2 to 3 weeks (or however long). We do have an immense amount of cases and we do need some time to get through them all. Thank you and have a nice day."

That is probably a good idea, because it will not move the process along any faster, plus you will just get worked up and annoy someone eventually...which has happened. However, I do not agree with her handling of the call, she could have been more polite.

I think that is my biggest issue here...that she was rude as all get out....This journey is hard enough, a little compassion would be great...but I know that is not going to happen :/

I am in total agreement with you. You would think those folks would have had some training on how to exhibit compassion, show sensitive toward stressed and anxious beneficiaries/petitioners in this process.

Maybe they have had such training, I do not know...guess I can dream.

Keep your head up and stay positive!

I agree and we all know how it feels to call and just hope for a miracle. I worked in a call center for 7 years. I hated every bit of it because of the rude people that would call in. But my job was to assist clients with there needs and that is what they need to do. Regardless of how many times you call.

I think they need to only hire people that have gone through this process and understand how important it is to us to reunite with our loved ones.......

Hang in there and I do advise that when you find yourself with the urge to call, get up, get out and go for a walk. Easier said then done: Try not to obsess. You'll make yourself sick. Trust me, I did!!! :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Thanks everyone!

I'm just going to check the embassy website and try to only call DOS one a week or maybe just once a month....When you are in AP they will not tell you anymore than that anyways....so best to just check embassy site everyday for any changes....

I have a question...the embassy website....any updates to it would be done during their time zone or anytime?
