If you went back to Canada, would you live in the same place?

If you had to move back, would you go back to the same area your from or start off fresh?

I know alot of you have family / friends and would proably stay in the same area, but if any of you don't, would you still go back where you came from? Would it be out of familiarity? Would you move somewhere knew to check out different weather or culture?

I have been thinking of this alot myself lately, and to be honest, i have no immediate family and i had no real friends that i kept in touch with even when i was in Canada. Since I've been in Chicago, my family has not even emailed me or anything either. ( granted we didn't like each other much when i was in Canada :P )

I grew up in Quebec, I lived the last 10 years in Ontario, near Ottawa, and i was thinking of any other places that i might want to live in If we were to go back. I'm not sure what the employment is like up there or housing etc anymore, and I'm not even sure if David could get xfered up there. However i do know i'd want the process to be easier on him than it was for me moving to the U.S.

So what are you thoughts? If you had no issues with going back, and just wanted to pack up and do it..would you and where would you go?

Well I'm not Canadian but...I'm all for fresh starts! If you are both going to a new city it would be a great experience to learn the city together. Calgary is a great city and I would think an easy transition for an American. Vancouver is also pretty damn cool!

Absolutely (Calgary)!

My last Posting in the Air Force was Greenwood Nova Scotia, small town of like 5000 people and it was ok, but not too offend anyone, not a big fan of the East Coast, mind you I loved the Donairs/pizza/bars in Halifax!! Grew up In Prince Alberty Sask, and hell no, would not live there now, far too dirty and crime is way up! Would move to Saskatoon in a heartbeat, nice city! Yes Calgary is nice, but its getting far too big! I would love to just live out on a farm, but that would mean living without my wife, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I'd go back to where I'm from, Missisauga or Etobicoke/Toronto. Mainly because that's where all my family and friends are BUT also because there are plenty of jobs and my husband and I would both have no trouble finding a job. I need to work in a large city for my career, so it just makes the most sense.

I would definitely go back to my hometown (I am close with both family and friends), Quebec, or try Vancouver. I have great things about Canada's West coast. But now living in New Mexico, I got used to the sunshine and awesome weather... I don't want to have to shovel snow anymore!

I would move close to my family.. they are really the only thing I miss about Canada

we would probably move to the Vancouver area which is only about an hour or so from my family...

but this is all hypothetical because my husband would never move to Canada.. :P

We would have to pick a new city most likely, I don't think my husband could find work he would like.

Prior to moving to the states, I lived in Midland - and I loved it. My husband however did not.

So we would move back to my hometown of Toronto or somewhere in the GTA.

I lived in Chilliwack for a few years and I loved the Wet Coast. No real winter to speak of. Nice and green. Close enough to the border for great shopping. Mountains and lakes nearby. If I couldn't move to be closer to my honey, I would want to move back to BC somewhere.

Wow - hard question.

I hate to be snotty but now when I go back to Kitchener, ON, it seems too small town and just kind of dirty. What a snot eh? As if I'm some big city babe from DC .... lol

I would want to around my family so perhaps we'd move closer to TO. I can;t picture moving back to Canada anyway, but I wouldn't mind trying Vancouver or the surrounding area.

Doesn't seem snotty to me, I just left there :P

I'd want to see more of Canada and hopefully live somewhere else, if I went back. I've seen a whole lot of the US but almost none of Canada :(
